At least give paladins windfury or something.
Shaman don’t get a free horse, nor an invincibility bubble they can still melee/kill you through. They don’t have a long stun, either.
They’ve got Ankh, but they need to have died first already to use it.
Classic players overall seem to favor Alliance because of how strong paladin’s apparently were compared to shaman.
SoD saw higher Alliance populations overall because of the pre-existing perception of Alliance power vs. Horde in classic.
Perhaps blizzard tilted the scale intentionally in phase 2 if populations were starting to drift further apart. SoD is still overall Alliance dominant. They have more data than we do since all we have are raid logs.
No, they get free purge, freedom, ghost wolf, interrupt that doesnt take up a rune slot and are the better tank, dps and healer so far in both pve and pvp.
15min hearthstone too.
Shamans get a free travel form that can also carry the flag in WSG / exploit backdoor jumps.
Paladins also can’t purge shaman Windury buff etc. whereas Shaman can purge blessings and seals which attribute large portion of their DPS.
Shamans get Decoy totem which is permanent freedom from movement impairment even when the totem is destroyed. Shamans can purge freedom from a paladin entirely then just kite the Paladin.
Shamans do much more melee damage and have an increased chance to land attacks just for being a Shaman.
Shamans get a low CD slow that can be used to kite the Paladin until death.
Paladins don’t have an interrupt naturally and must rune to interrupt casters. Shamans get an interrupt at range that is instant. They also can rune this interrupt to not share cooldowns with their other shock spells.
Shamans get a damage reduction cooldown that also restores mana. Paladins get a mana back debuff whenever they melee (Rune) that nerfs their dps (No art of war) that also nerfs healing by 50% for 15 seconds.
Shamans can also get passive 10% DR to all attacks and 30% HP bonus.
Grounding totem which blocks our “long” stun and also doesn’t even remove the totem since it does no damage.
I’m probably not even scratching the surface, but just a few things I’ve noticed.
Imo the classes aren’t really that comparable unless you account for the fact they’re both hybrids.
Shaman is mostly ranged, always has been, unless you’re Enhancement, and even then you still have shock spells. They’ve always been mostly an offensive and support class, and just now able to tank in SoD. Wears mail armor.
Paladin is almost purely melee, and is defensive, the most defensive class in the game thanks to bubble and plate armor, nothing ever can break it unless it’s mass dispelled. They’ve always been allowed to tank, but their dps is on the lower end. Also a support class just like Shaman, just a defensive support.
Ofc both classes have their perks/flavor as well.
I just think a lot of Alliance are in for a rude awakening because Shaman are good at kiting and Paladins are specifically weak to it, lol.
There’s also the fact they have their WoTLK kit, can’t act like it’s Vanilla paladins either. Crusader Strike.
Alliance are still the dominant faction overall, I think this problem will sort itself out kinda lol. If more people flock over it’ll probably be nerfed faster. Many just wanted to play new the OP paladin, but since everyone is OP is SoD, no one really is special.
Wrong.
Shaman >>>>>> paladin.
Shaman >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Warrior
Shaman >>> everyone else.
I’ve killed Shaman under Blood Moon, they’re just like Mages where if you let them cast and they get the jump first, you’re dead.
I don’t have an issue with them. Mages can poly for 30sec and repeat but Shaman can’t do that, they can also 1-3 shot you.
You are not qualified to talk about it Cow. You can only play against a shaman once every 3 hours in a crappy world PvP event where most of time you are too laggy to know who killed you.
We on the other hand are dealing with 8+ shamans every BG. The class is a absolutely broken. It’s a Tank/melee DPS/Caster and healer all in 1 and does everything well. The stupid who said hybrid tax is bad, had no clue about classic game design.
Moo~
Paladins are a pain to deal since p1 and they’ve only gotten stronger, and there’s always a lot of them, and you don’t get to deal with those.
So just learn to play, I guess.

It’s hilarious how bad Paladin is considering the lead developer plays it.
Ret is the worst melee with the least amount of meaningful rune choices.
Holy has the fewest runes in the entire game for any specialization.
Prot requires 11 points in Holy for no reason other than to sink talents. It’s the single lowest threat tank in the game. Without Consecrate, it’s the lowest aoe threat tank in the game.
Paladin could see substantial buffs and still not make the top 3 of any role.
Paladins win in the style department though.
heh you know whats AWESOME?
killing someone in 2 shots WHILE COMPLETELY IMMUNE TO THEM.
so great that pallies can do that.
If this is what you think, I’m curious as to what you are playing in SoD.
Do you believe that Shaman > Paladin in every way, and also elect to play a Paladin? If so, why? Why not play what you personally think is better?

ill tell you why.
pallies were good in p1 and are good in p2.
shaman were basement in p1 and are finally good in p2 and they dont want to reroll so they cry about it.
bubble, lay on hands, plate
also run with a druid and you get windfury !
wow!
Shamans got no stuns, no bubbles, no plate, no swords
Good at what?
Non subjective, realistic question. Good at what?
They were 6th in dps in P1. They were 4th in TPS. They were last in HPS.
In p2 they’re last place as physical dps. They’re last place in ST TPS. They’re still last in HPS.
What are they good at? Or are you basing your responses around meme modes like STV, and World PvP - that does not matter in any way at all, and should never be a driving force behind any form of change ?
I think paladins could use some buffs, but I think the reason they ended up the way they were was probably because Alliance was overpopulated and Blizzard was afraid of making the problem worse.
