I really hope they change some animations for a couple of shaman spells. Lightning bolt, ascendance, etc

Given how close we are to launch I doubt we’ll get any cosmetic changes and would prefer gameplay and reworks over pretty right now.
But they definitely need to give us updated visuals at some point during TWW.

I don’t think “some point during next expansion” is acceptable seeing as Ascendence has been a placeholder since Cata.

I understand. It just doesn’t feel like they’re into cosmetics for launch. Can’t say I’m really keeping up with other class changes but is anyone else getting cosmetics for launch?
I don’t think anyone quite needs 'em the way we do honestly.
I mean, I’ve waited too many expansions already. If we’re finally going to get a modicum of dev time, we need to push loudly for much much needed visual updates.

Ascendance is about to be literally Classic content, and the art team are not the same devs working on class design and balance. Getting a new Ascendance model would be taking time away from polishing random new NPC model #64847, not from making Tempest inherit Lightning Bolt’s modifiers or reworking Totemic to actually make a fraction of sense for Enhancement.

Other classes are getting visual updates for TWW launch. Shaman absolutely can and should. Ascendance is long overdue. Lightning bolt looks like a 2D ramen noodle. Totems are models from 2004-2010.

Its long overdue and ya i cant main shaman if we dont get a new ascendence. Even if the class plays perfectly i just cant.
I’m honestly surprised that people don’t seem to complain about shock spells. They are visually the most boring spells in the game. A lot of other instant spells have cool animations, look at mages, but shamans get nothing.

It’s been over a decade — that is unacceptable in the gaming industry from a graphical/visual update. Free games get more incremental updates than this.

I think one of the worst parts of the ascendance model, is that it looks to be a Human or Elf male. Except for Kul Tirans, not a single playable shaman race has that sort of build.
As a Tauren or Draenei where do my horns, hooves and tail go? Why are Dwarves suddenly tall and thin?
It really makes no sense, ESPECIALLY since in DF they introduced Furbolg Ascendants, who look like a Furbolg made of stones. Heck all of the incarnated protodrakes also at least look like protodrakes after being infused with their element.
the shock spells are such a small part of the rotation though. Frost Shock, Flame Shock, and Earth Shock aren’t cast all that much in PvE content. The abilities which are cast a lot more, such as lightning bolt, chain lightning, lava burst and ele blast are all pretty decent, if not, good.
There are some major problems that the OP is right about though. Ascendance looks like the Heroic Mage tier xmog from Bastion of Twilight and definitely needs an update. Lava beam needs a major update too.
