Shaman Dual Wield Rune

I’m sure this has been talked about, but I just realized how bad this is.

What the heck are the devs thinking? One is locked behind a raid (horrible idea) another is locked behind Turbo Shredders costing more than a mount and a drop rate of the Dark Iron Ordinance so low that it will make you just want to stop playing. For all the love the devs seem to have for shaman DPS they sure stick it to us on the runes. At level 34 trying for the dual wield rune I’m basically ready to toss in the towel and say screw it. The only thing I’m discovering is this isn’t fun. Does anyone actually enjoy grinding 10 dwarfs for hours to get drops, then farming Shredders for hours on end with an abysmal drop rate as well as crazy cost involved? How is this supposed to make we want to play phase 3?

I don’t need things handed to me, but when it’s skills the game is based around (Ie the damage you deal with the new skills is factored into the game, the mobs health and such) can we be a bit more reasonable than an hour of farming netting TWO [Dark Iron Ordinance] that I need 20 of? I’m sure I am late to the party on this, and others have complained long ago and were told where they can take their complaints but seriously, is this really supposed to make me want to look forward to anything else they do with runes? Because it for sure isn’t.

The boost the exp to get you to “end game” but they don’t increase the drop rate of the items you need to get the skills to use at… end game. Brilliant design by the devs.

Now I know what my next grind is to make gold, thanks.

Mage has entered the chat.

Lets go play walking simulator around the world and find 10 books in P1 and another 10 in P2.

But they tripled the gold reward from quests and halved the cost of your mount so that’s plenty of gold left over to purchase the Grizzby items with. Just yesterday I did the Shimmering Flats grind on my shaman and jumped from 2 gold to 11 from that alone

If you are an engineer, go for it, the problem is from what I have read after the frustration of this quest, there isn’t any profit in them even at the prices they are selling them for. So, I’m not sure it’s a huge money-making situation. Servers may vary as always.

I may be a sadist but I enjoyed getting all the runes for shaman. Dualwield in p1 had me in stone talon doing world PvP fighting over the shredders. Maelstrom had you traveling the world fighting scary mobs if you do it at a lower level and the same with 2H spec. It really locked me into the class.

Its fine, you’re poor, I get it. Us rich boys thank you for buying our over priced garbage.

I’m sure it’s great, and if I was an idiot and continue to farm it I’m sure it would be game changing. Zero chance I’d ever do that though. It’s a skill not an Epic item. Not a mount. It shouldn’t cost more than a mount or be harder to get than end game items.

It is kind of game changing if you go dual wield which is higher DPS. If you’re don’t care about that it doesn’t matter. I got it because before HC I never played a shaman seriously and wanted to try everything out. But the dw rune isn’t even the longest to get. If you’ve done maelstrom weapon or 2h mastery you have to fly all over the world for the prerequisites.

Ultimately all classes have some “annoying” runes to collect. I agree that we should have gotten the majority of our runes before hitting max level but most of them you don’t need to be max level to get them.

Yeah that was kinda trash… imagine doing it in P1 when getting it cost about 60 gold and you’d get about 20g for full clearing Silverpine at level 25.

I still hope the wow dev that Okay’d that stubs their toe at least once a night until P4 ends.

This is the same for every class, just fyi.

I did it on 3 toons in P1, and I actually enjoyed it, but the only toon it really felt “necessary” for was my warrior. Warbringer is great. Druid/Hunter it was just part of the rune completion, and likely won’t see much use for, but…

I just realized that every class has a rune locked behind the same quest line. I’m done with SoD at this point. A level 25 rune locked behind a quest this ignorant isn’t a game I can get behind.

The only thing I’ve discovered is SoD devs don’t understand the term “casual” game. So out of touch it’s no wonder P2 lost payers over P1.

Classic, HC, and the seasonal games haven’t ever been casual friendly. I’d say SoD is more casual friendly than the others. They decreased respec price. They’ve increased leveling speed and gold from quests. They’ve decreased the mount price. Not having everything spoon fed to you isn’t a problem with the game. Grouping with people to help get some of the runes is encouraged but you can also do it solo. Again do I think the majority of the best runes should be locked some of these time gates? No but some take 5 minutes to get and others take a bit of traveling and discovery. I can say I’m excited for the MC attunement style runes we’ll have at 60.

lets not forget the paladin meme sheath of light were you swim on the coast of EK for like 40 minutes to loot a thing off a guy

No rune should be locked behind a drop that’s as low as the ordinance and as low/expensive as the shredders. That’s not fun. Not for a skill. For gear? Sure. This quest line is inarguably garbage.

You said they increased the exp, which made the bottle neck for this even worse. Elite dwarfs are perma camped now because everyone needs them for alts something I just realized.

I agree that locking them behind one specific profession is a bad idea. What they should do is make it where every profession has an option for the quest as a turn in so it doesn’t seem as gated. Will some be easier than others? Probably but at least you won’t be forced to either switch professions or buy things from the AH if you don’t want to. In regard to it coming from low mob drops I don’t think that will change. But in my opinion it’s not a bad thing. My opinion and others will disagree. Something they could do in later phases is allow the supply rep vendor sell the runes from previous phases. You get quite a few while leveling and the lower level ones are relatively cheap/easy to fill. Hopefully also allowing people to still get the runes the original way of they want to.

If it was a low drop mob and only one class needed it sure. When every class needs it that makes zero sense.

With SoD some things like that are going to exist. Alliance in phase 1 didn’t like having to come to stonetalon to get the turbo shredders. I think in a way it is good for the game. Makes you travel and go to different zones that may not be exactly balanced towards your faction. I can’t help you enjoy it. All I can do is give you speculation to why they’ve done it this way. If enough people were complaining they would change it. The devs are at least trying to use community feedback to change some things as much as people say they have no idea what’s going on with the game.

I don’t care if they make me go to every zone that’s an appropriate level. I’m fine with that. Fighting every other class for a low drop item with limited spawn mobs is ignorant. Forcing a quest to be behind a single profession is ignorant. To suggest the devs that are doing this know what they are doing is laughable.

They made exp faster, to encourage alts. All of which have to deal with this. That’s smart? The price of good for this on the AH are through the roof because of this. So if you don’t have a rich alt to funnel money to alts good luck. All this and again you say the devs know what they are doing? Odd way to show it.
