As a Feral, I can beat most classes 1v1. The only 2 that I don’t touch are meta Locks and Shamans.
Shaman’s also melted me on my priest back in the day.
Which got me thinking.
What counters a shaman? Who do shamans fear in 1v1?

Priest, warlock and hunter
Melee we absolutely crush if you catch us with our right runes.
We just stack armor every block to the point we are unhittable.
You could kite us with sunfire if we have tank runes on, but even then it’s kinda close. We can ghost wolf and bounce if you don’t have MS talented

I’d say shaman and hunter are about even with skill being the factor? Frost shock and sitting on the hunter is all it takes, no?
Shaman tank is also quite sturdy. Ele can blast us at range. Only enh or resto is really countered, no?
Druid is a counter or standoff vs a shaman. The problem is YOU as feral have a certain expectation that doesn’t use the best abilities vs. a shaman. Purge removes your hots, shocks have a 20 yard range. Stay beyond 20 yards, use root, keep distance, grind down the shaman’s mana, eventually wear them down. Why fight within their wheelhouse? Odds are you’ll be going against a tank tank rune in this meta with a small mana pool. Plan vs. that. If you see water shield you’re going to have to overcome their mana regen/healing but won’t have to worry about lava burst.

Depends on spec of hunter.
Frost shock is only a 20 yard range… so they can easily put range you and you’ll never catch em.
Some hunters run marksman for pvp and it’s actually kinda busted.

mage, hunter, warlock, priest, druid are hard if both players are equally skilled.
Anything that can poke tremor and fear is a nightmare and anything that can root you is basically unwinnable.
Shaman arent very good 1v1
I believe things will get easier with grounding totem at least. Poly, Frost Trap, Fear. Also gonna have double purge for priest and druid.
yeah, well mages, hunters, warlocks, priests and druids all get more abilities in their toolkits too. Ice block / coldsnap, scatter shot, death coil, and more are all on their way soon so we’ll see, but historically shaman have always been C Tier maybe LOW B Tier and had the same vulnerabilities to tremor poking fears, roots, slows, and dying in a singular kidney shot.
I mean warlock kinda can 1v1 just about anything right now, except priests. In Era Shamans could eat warlocks super easily, but not at 25. Can’t do anything about their healing.
I mean, who the hell beats priest in the 1v1?
And hunter…yeah. The pet is still absurd, and it can feel impossible to catch the hunter himself. But if you get the jump on the hunter, you win.
We murder Warriors and Rogues, but who doesn’t?
A better shaman.
Warlock counters shaman in later phases when they get CoT.
Druids are notoriously countered by Shamans. Never make an Alliance Druid in Classic.
I can beat a bad Shaman as a Mage. If they manage to miss their earth shock and I can get them to sit on my living flame then its easy to blast them down in the 6 seconds it takes for their ES to refresh.
A Good Shaman is very hard to beat though. Its going to be even harder next phase when they get grounding totem, Elemental Mastery and all those other goodies
I was wondering why I felt more powerful as MM. Forgot I could counter 5 extra specs easily.
It’s also significantly better because the hivemind community is accustomed to cc’ing pets at this point. Even MM hunters scare beast BM hunters.

Warlock esp next level band when we get Fel Hunter is one of the hardest counters 1v1 in the game. A warlock with proper totem stomping just walks all over that class.
I honestly love how trained people are to CC my pet. I could care less about the thing now that I’m playing MM and it’s such a good distraction that lets me put in some ranged damage freely.

Feral is dog water, kitty form is squishest spec in game. You arent beating anyone thats actually good as feral right now. Pure feral is a free delicious HK.

Most people dont consider this trashy game play feral. I am a druid main and I hate this stupid sunfire spammy garbage.
Personally I’ve always liked MM esp at 25.
