With the newest PTR update there is an option to choose between the new and old ascendance appearances. However I feel it still misses the mark as people were hoping for something different with the new ascendance. I don’t think the model is bad but it does not fit the appeal that people were desired.
I have a couple suggestions to offer more choices for Ascendance:
WoD Glyph:
There was a brief time during 6.2 in Warlords of Draenor where shamans had a glyph that would instead change Ascendance to keep your player model but change the color similar to Glyph of Stars for druids with moonkin form. I think bringing this back would be a good option.
Dathea, Ascended:
The original ascendance model did not make sense to begin with for the player shaman as it was based off of the ascendant mobs from the Twilight’s Hammer which gained their form with twisted magic. A more fitting example of working with the elements would be Dathea from Vault of the Incarnates who in her ascended form was floating in the middle of an elemental. I think it would be cool if something like that could be an option for shaman players with floating inside a fire/air/water elemental.
