Sorry if this has been brought up before.
Shamans had a feature that allowed them to call four totems at once (in which expansion I forget at the moment). Then, the feature was taken away.
Now, shamans have to call each totem one at a time. Would like to have the option back.
Thank you.
I feel like i could do it in Cata. But i also remember there being dead totems that didnt matter being included. Id ratjer substantive totema being used because you want them to be used.
That existed because shamans had numerous buffing totems that were meant to be out 100% of the time. Now totems are all utility and like every other class with utility they have to use them 1 at a time.

You previously had the option to summon four totems, one of each element. Because each provided some kind of area buff or debuff, except for fire which was just a damage turret.
That is not necessary anymore because they changed totems from being set and forget buffs you put down every 1-2 minutes to being functional utility.
Summoning four at once to your location would probably be the worst way to use totems now.
I do kind of miss the old totem rules tbh.

What’s already been said. Back when Shamans could buff the raid with things like Strength of Earth, Flametongue, Wrath of Air, Stoneskin, etc.
The problem though was that other classes buffs that did the same thing would cancel out the Shaman’s totems. Example - Warrior using Battle Shout canceled out the Shaman’s Strength of Earth totem.
Since Shaman’s totems have been reworked to not be drop-and-forget buffs, there was no need to have the ability to drop four totems at once.
Ah yeah, i forgot. Shaman basically brought whatever buffs your raid didn’t have (to an extent)
Cata and MoP, back when dropping totems was the start of their rotation. Used to be my favorite thing about playing one, like setting up a little base.
Now I level my shaman and barely ever use a totem. Sometimes forget they’re even there.

Which was kind of nice. Currently shamans just don’t bring any unique raid buffs or anything, so would be nice if they had some kind of niche. Even if it was just filling in for missing buffs.
I know enhance has Windfury still, but that’s only 1 of 3 specs.

It would be nice if elemental got a caster totem.
Enhance has windfury totem for melee
Resto has mana tide totem for healers
Elemental needs wrath of air for casters
It looked cool and flavorful, but the gameplay of that talent was just an annoying maintenance buff that had to be re-cast after movement.

I would only like to see buff totems return if they changed them to have 100+ yard range and the same duration as other class buffs. Windfury only effects people within 30 yards and only last 2 minutes.
Having to refresh Strength of Earth every 2-5 minutes and making sure it was close enough to the melee group to even apply wasn’t fun. It was tedious.
Even changing them, though, would still be a bit more tedious than other classes because the Shaman would have to stop and remember to drop their buff totems for each trash pack as well.
Like, I get the flavor and aesthetics of the Shaman dropping these cool looking, magical sticks to buff the group… but the actual gameplay just wasn’t very fun. At least for me it wasn’t. I much prefer the design we have now where the totems are just big, powerful (usually) CDs.
Can confirm that it was a thing in Cata, and I really miss that feature. It was in Cata too though that there were indeed lots of “dead” totems and the game was starting to gravitate towards fewer totems overall.
The only issue I took with the simul-cast thing is that it made it harder to remember using those niche totems whenever certain situations called for it. But that’s a pretty small complaint in the grand scheme of things…especially being mostly Resto and using the same few totems most of the time.
