At 5 minutes and 30 seconds in the video, he explains how shadowy duel interacted with immunities before. Basically, if used on a paladin with bubble, ice block etc. etc. it would vanish you both from eachothers vision. This was obviously a very useful and powerful tool, as you could force an immunity and then get an almost guaranteed restealth(if you were aware of how shadow duel works, and saved the ability for an escape after ur burst window)
AS of now however, it vanishes the paladin from the rogues vision, but the rogue is COMPLETELY visible to the paladin, even through stealth, for the entire duration of the duel. Making it a hugely detrimental ability to use on any class with an immunity, as they just use their immunity and get 6 seconds of free vision and damage on you, and there is nothing you can do against it.
Is this an intended stealth nerf? Or is this a bug trying to fix how shadowy duel interacted with immunities?
Please report fellow rogues, we got hit hard this patch and this is absolutely not needed @ all. Shadowy duel was a good ability and balanced, that rewarded smart play. AS it is now, shadowy duelâs utility and defensive capability has taken an ENOURMOUS hit.
I believe the previous interaction was unintended, frankly. If you Shadowy Duel you are essentially locking yourself and your victim into a 6sec 1vs1⊠them using an immunity doesnât change that 1vs1, now youâre justing Shadowy Dueling against a bubbleâd Ret Paladin. Donât Shadowy Duel a paladin with bubble up is the take-home message here. The only other option would be an immunity immediately ending Shadowy Duel for BOTH of you⊠which is fine by me also, but still ruins your aspirations of a free re-stealth.
Itâs now arguably working as intended.

you think being able to see the rogue THROUGH stealth, while the paladin sits in an immunity, and the rogue cannot see or target the paladin is working as intended?
Are you high? Not trying to be disrespectful but that turned the ability from a powerful escape or offensive tool(if used right) , to useless against anyone with immunities.
Shadow duel was absolutely not what made rogues strong at low ranks. Consider this combined with the Kyrian mastery nerf, COMBINED with the ER nerfs, COMBINED with the shadow blades nerf.
Its heavy handed and completely unecessary
its not a free restealth though. Its a cooldown used specifically for the purpose of getting a restealth, or landing a kill. Why do people think cooldowns shouldnât be able to do things when rogues use them? Its an effing 2 minute cd, takes up a pvp talent slot and you will rarely get to use more then one per match, so yeah, it should actually reward the rogue using it if he uses it properly.
You can still shadowy duel the healer, 5 point KS and then run away and restealth. Why is this being broken?
And it not taking you from paladins vision? Ok thats fine. But the paladin/mage should NOT be able to see you THROUGH stealth, and be able to damage you, and fully attack you, while you cannot see them. That makes the ability actively detrimental to use on ANYONE with an immunity, whether u are using it correctly or not, as they can just pop their immunity and get free uptime on you and there is NO COUNTERPLAY TO THIS.

Correct. As⊠intended⊠Shadowy Dueling someone with an immunity should instantly end the Shadowy Duel for both of you OR have no impact on the Shadowy Duel whatsoever. Blizzard has opted for the latter. Not as elegant a choice, but functionally sound.
Youâve traded duel for their immunity, thatâs a good trade. Do you play Chess? We could refer to it as the Shadowy Duel Gambit.
But still, dueling someone that not only has an immunity but has it available is a very risky endeavour and not one I would generally recommend. Save your Shadowy Duel for like a Shaman or a Warlock. You DO get to adjust your talents during the waiting period before an arena match almost as if some choices are better or worse against some opposing compositionsâŠ
Also, and this last part is purely academic but, I feel like you have the wrong general idea about Shadowy Duel because you seem to be thinking of it like a stealth effect when itâs actually more like a smoke-bomb surrounding a 1vs1 duel. In that analogy the paladin bubbles â the duel doesnât end and now he can hit you really, really hard with impunity. Thatâs how Iâve always conceptualized the ability.
I agree though that this is BS. The rogue should still have eyes on the bubbled paladin.

yeah at the very least this should be fixed. glad we could find common ground
So I just played a game where Iâm in bubble and I get dueled. I cannot hit the rogue even though we see each other. Is that intended or do I just have to get dueled and watch as the Rogue gets 6 seconds of immunity from me?

A BOPed rogue started a duel against me and he completely disappeared along with everyone else. He must have cancled BOP and started attacking me and his character model never reappeared. I died alone to a rogue that didnât exist.
this is also bullcrap and unnacceptable. Its ridiculous how bugged and dumb this ability is when interacting with immunities
I want this ability as Sin lol Iâd use it more so as a def that I greatly need.
Rogue class seems to be broken in general. I get randomly popped out of stealth by monks even though Iâm on the other side of the map. My shadowy duel rarely works as intended. Iâm on the fence as whether to reroll or unsub.
Almost certainly a bug.
The previous interaction was unintended, and I imagine they attempted to make it âfailâ if used on an immune target, where it wouldnât phase them and you wouldnât gain the benefits. But per Blizzardâs high standards of coding, it appears to now âfailâ in a way which is even more detrimental to the rogue than the ability just not working.
