Shadowstrike bug?

I’ve noticed a few times that during shadow dance I’ll use shadowstrike and even though I see my character go through the animation and hear the ability sound I get no combo points/no damage. This will still cost me 1 gcd.

Has anyone else noticed this? It’s pretty frustrating.

I believe all melee attacks have 7% change to miss. If it misses you get no combo point.

Or maybe it’s 7% base hitting rating. I forget the the details. But the point is, all melee attacks have a chance to miss.

Does that apply to just white swings or to abilities as well?

A weird bug I’ve run into a few times is the teleport not going off, but Shadowstrike still hitting the target from 25 yards away.

But, yah. I think it’s just a latency thing with what you might be seeing. I notice it a lot with Subterfuge. You only get 3 GCDs in Subterfuge. If you use 3 abilities, sometimes it will still let you use Shadowstrike and you’ll see the animation, but that Shadowstrike wont do damage, cost energy, or generate combo points. I don’t think it uses a GCD, either? But, I’ve just always assuming it was lag with stances changing.

I think that’s just autoattacks. They made it so special attacks can’t miss when they removed hit rating from gear, I believe. And Shadowstrike is an extra special case since it can’t be dodged/blocked/parried, either. So, it should always connect.

Except when I get off a shadowstrike before and after the weird bugged one.

Seems that the client is just queuing up the animation before the server has decided we’re not in stealth/dance and informed it that we can’t do that. This has happened as long as I can remember, it just wasn’t very noticeable until the flashy shadowstrike anim was added.
