I can’t recall if this is a thing or not as it’s been a minute since I played Sub. Would really like the QoL improvement of only needing one bind that would use SS if available and BS if not.
I think there is a stance based macro for this? Help I’m bad.

/cast [stance] Shadowstrike; Backstab
During stealth, shadow dance, or the brief stealth period offered by the subterfuge talent, the macro will cast shadowstrike. Otherwise, it will default to backstab.
You don’t even need the macro. Just remove Backstab from your stealth bar.
People still use stealth bars? Which abilities besides backstab are you comfortable losing access to during stealth/dance/subterfuge?
Just copy the exact same bar to your stealth bar but swap Backstab for Shadowstrike and GG.
I don’t use any UI addons. You also don’t lose any abilities with the stealth bar.
I prefer straight default UI. I may use shift and alt macros again this expansion to keep it clean.

is what I use.
I don’t know if it still happens as I’ve fixed problems related to my action bars years ago, but this kind of thing used to lead to bar-lag and hitting buttons you didn’t mean to, like backstab, while in stealth.
Does bar lag exist still?
Not as far as I know. Haven’t had problems with it in a long time.
