It’s well known that Shadow priest have the worst interrupt in the game. So I ask, if you had the choice to skip it for more DPS would you take that rather than the interrupt?
/waves in Warlock
I’ll take your crappy baseline interrupt any day, thanks.
I think this question is interesting.
Put simply-it depends.
With that being said, the shadow priest talent tree is a mess. If there is a spec that could easily benefit the most from talent reworks, it’s shadow priest hands down.
Shadow priest dps falls very quickly into a niche depending upon talent choice much more so than any other spec.
You can do great single target damage and have abysmal aoe.
Or.
You can okay single target well below what spriest is capable of, and decent acceptable aoe that you have to spec into sacrificing large portions of other dps for. Decent here meaning both of those are going to fall well under a performance metric that any other spec would find acceptable.
If you have to give up silence…and they put searing nightmare on that same talent line and leave everything else the same-yes. There would not be a shadow priest outside of pvp using silence again. That isn’t how this talent tree works however.
I know, I know. bUT wUt bOuT FeRAl!? The s priest rework was incredible. The spec is by far the most fluid and enjoyable in the game imo. It just falls short due to stupid talent designs.
why not just make interrupts baseline and the same. it feels like such a necessary ability to be frank.
Ya I had to drop my shadow priest mid way through 9.0 just because I got tired of having such a clunky and unfun AoE rotation that did squat for damage.
Single target raiding was fun, but once my raiding guild died all that was left was M+, and I’m not about to sit in that garbage AoE spec for an entire patch.
So I said screw it, I’m joining the casuals and going huntard!
Not having an interrupt at all is way worse and I doubt they will take it away baseline but will probably allocate the Last Word talent in there somewhere.
Well yea it’s a crappy interrupt, because it’s not an interrupt.
That said, it could be an interesting choice that would depend on the makeup of your group.
No. It should be free.
Yes spriest silence is way to good to give up
Felhunter interrupt is amazing. You don’t have to stop casting like with every other interrupt. Felguard on the other hand is annoying. I love not being able to interrupt a caster out of sanguine due it getting stunned.
Depends on the content. Most raid encounters do not require interrupts. 1/4 to 1/3 of dungeons are not really interrupt-heavy. Simply make the choice based on the encounter.
Um, what? Shadow has one of the strongest talent trees in the game. There are only two talents that suck (surrender 2 madness and mind bomb), but the rest offer meaningful gameplay choices for pve and pvp depending on the damage profile you want.
I agree that shadow needs some baseline aoe/cleave. That isn’t a talent issue.
I wish our baseline interrupt was shorter in line with other ranged specs, could even remove the silence. Then last word could add the silence back in our talents if you wanted it.
Sure it does. It also has some of the strongest talents in the game that should be baseline (looking at you searing nightmare.)
The S priest talent tree more than any other talent tree I’ve seen pigeonholes the spec into incredibly tight niches.
Better idea. If Silence on a talent tree, make it on the Priest tree instead of the Shadow tree
Pretty sure this is exactly what they are doing. Nothing is going to have a baseline interrupt anymore in 10.0.
Shadow doesn’t need an interrupt. Not every class needs to have the same toolkit. Silence is perfectly fine.
Revert Mindbomb, bring back Spectral Guise and you got a deal.
OMG yes! Spectral Guise was my jam.
I disagree and no. I think silence is fine.
Oh. I’m a shadow priest and wasn’t aware I have an interrupt. I thought I had a blanket silence. TIL!
