Maybe it’s just me, but I was REALLY annoyed that Paladins for Ashbringer but Death Knights just “reforged” Frostmourne into two blades. Now we have Demon Hunters that can transmog to Illidians warglaives, so why can’t Death Knights Transmog Shadowmourne? Players are able to transmog some of the old legendaries like the cloak so why not Shadowmourne?
tbh, i would rather have shadowmourne’s proc as rune to apply to any weapon for those who have obtained the leggo
This is a very good point. Its not like you are asking for Frostmourne. And with the legion artifact weapons, other classes are able to get iconic weapons as well like the shamans doomhammer.
Id say its about time to loosen the weapon mog restrictions to allow legendaries.
Iirc the argument for not letting people transmog to legendary weapons was that “Everyone would just run around with the same weapons”. And then, you know, they gave us artifact weapons…
Shadowmoune as mog yesplease. If that was the argument then it wouldnt really be valid anymore
I’m still salty about this, let me mog my glaives, damnit.
You can mog shadow’s edge that’s a lot like shadowmourne
I know, but its nowhere near Shadowmourne. It just doesnt look as good. Hopefully we get ro mog the real deal soon
I don’t want Shadowmourne. I want the brand new Frostmourne model that they made just to show us for five minutes what we wouldn’t be getting.

Don’t let them cheap out on us and give us a plebian axe. Demand the Real McCoy.
Agreed. I would much rather have Shadowmourne’s cool effect than Shadowmourne itself.
If they actually gave those who have completed the Shadowmourne quest to be able to have a new Runeforge Rune to apply to Weapons with a modified version of it’s proc…
It could be something like something like not saying this is balanced or anything but it’s a different effect that gives the DK an interesting random CC type effect on their weapon:
Any target infected by your diseases has a 10% chance per tick to also drain a Soul Fragment from living essence. Each Fragment grants +2% of your Strength per Fragment, these fragments are able to be stacked up to 10 stacks (+10% Str). Your main target has an additional +20% chance to accumulate a Soul Fragment. When you reach 10 stacks a dark essence is released in a violent eruption of Chaos Energy this explosion causes all targets in a 20 yard radius to take Chaos damage to each enemy and causing terror in their souls making them stand and shake in terror for 3 seconds. These energies buff the Deathknight by granting them an additional (+5% Str) on top of the Soul Fragment buff for a total of (+15% Str) Strength for the next 20 sec.
Naw man it’s just Rune of the Fallen Crusader, but named something else, and it has the cool soul swirlies when it procs.
uncontrollable cc is always a bad thing.
i was thinking this:
Your melee attacks have a chance to drain a Soul Fragment granting you 1% Strength. When you have acquired 10 Soul Fragments you will unleash Chaos Bane, dealing (1.5*weapon damage) Shadow damage split between all enemies within 15 yards and granting you 15% Strength for 10 sec.
this would compete with fallen crusader by doing damage and having a linear ramp up to STR proc instead of an RNG proc. so you would pick between a self heal or effectively an extra weapon swing that AoEs.
I want Shadowmourne. The Horde’s most iconic weapon is an axe. Agree that we should get both, but Fun is not allowed. Honestly it’s kind of sad. Most of the time I’d be super excited for Blizzcon. But most people I know are like: “Meh. I’m so angry Idgad.”
B-But can’t you tmog the axe? Not the legendary one but the purple one?
Pretty sure I used to run that axe with the blue ICC dk set.
Yeah but the purple one doesn’t look as cool as Shadowmourne proper does.
That would be like a player asking if they could transmog the Ashbringer, before it had the glowing Silver Hand symbol; and was still simply a generic sword. Paladins did not need to settle for a weak-sauce low-res version of the Ashbringer. They got a superior version in Legion.
By my estimates DKs should get the same, ‘and’ Frostmourne. Now that both Icebringer and Frostreaper have been drained of their power, there is literally no logical reason that a skilled Death Knight could not reforge them into a single blade again. The risk of corruption is gone now.
One down, one to go.
And my frost DK won’t even be able to use it. Even though that was the spec I had with it. Neat
