While there’s always a steep learning curve with a new xpac, world quests generally seem to be more complicated, more arduous, and more time consuming in Shadowlands. I have yet to see a single world quest that involves killing a single boss - quick, easy, simple and plentiful in BFA. So I’m guessing there was a new directive behind Shadowlands quests design. I’d love to know what that directive was, and what was the motivation behind it? Because frankly, I’m already bewildered, frustrated and worn out by Shadowlands world quests.
People complained that they were too easy, so they likely adjusted to that feedback.
Considering they are all fairly simple I’m confused how you can be bewildered and frustrated.
I suppose simple and complex are relative terms, so let’s make the comparison with BFA. Perhaps it’s just a learning curve issue, but generally speaking, quests seem to be significantly more time-consuming with multiple steps and/or multiple sets of mobs to kill. I recall a small handful of such quests in BFA, but nowhere near what I’m seeing in Shadowlands.
There are no more easy WQ. They all seem to take a minimum of 5 minutes. Ive also noticed a trend of WQ objectives being hidden until you complete the first objectives.
WQ: Kill 15 of X
Kills 14 and thinks 1 more left
WQ: BUT WAIT! THERES MORE!
UGH
WQ: Kill Big Boss
fine
WQ: BUT WAIT! THERES MORE!
wtf
WQ: Use Item from Big Boss
clicks
WQ: Rewards 5 anima
…
Now when you do something and think you’re done, the world quest ninja tells you to do 4 more things.
These WQ are just awful. I cant believe how bad they are. I figured with WF/TF gone, it would sting a bit. But without a whistle, the 70 anima(literally nothing), and the lack of any real rewards, I cant be bothered to do tehse things.
I take one look at some WQ up in a corner of Bastion and realize it takes me 2 minutes just to run up there for 70 anima I nope right out of that. Right now I’m only doing the bare minimum.
They are almost pointless to do. I do the box for my 1500g in grey items and maybe a conduit I dont have, outside of that I dont even touch them.
Yes - that’s exactly what I was referring to when I mentioned multiple steps. In addition, there are often 20 to 30 or even more mobs to kill. 5 minutes would be awesome compared to what I’m seeing.
People moaned about how they felt compelled to do every single world quest every single day. So blizzard neutered the rewards and made them more involved and time consuming.
I don’t recall seeing people complain about this. Maybe the devs complained because they couldn’t stand players quickly complete a WQ.
I’m unclear on how more involved and more time-consuming quests makes anyone feel less compelled to do them all. Especially early on, everyone wants almost every reward offered by WQs.
I’ve definitely seen it on this very forum.
join the crowd. blizzards motivation for the change is the good ole’ time played metric. ion wants you to work harder, and take longer. this isn’t fun, it’s a job.
These things take like 2 hours or more with all the traveling involved and no flight whistle. I don’t know what’s going on in the mind of these devs. They improve one part of the game, then screw another part that was good. Do they think people play WoW for 15 hours a day??!
i would be willing to give odds that many, many more people have complained about pathfinder without anything being done.
They were in a very small minority then. Kinda like we have seen countless complaints about not being able to fly at max level yet here we are. I guess when it benefits Blizzard they will listen to the 5 people in GD who complain about something.
WQs are the end game for those who don’t raid or dungeon much. It is what I do because I am not a good player. As such, making them harder seems an odd choice.
I get a calling done in a half hour break from work. How do they take you 2 hours?
If this were true, then why do we only have 3 world quests in a calling, instead of 4 for a daily emissary?
They are all bonus objectives in the maw now.
you mean only three tedious, frustrating, time consuming, underwhelming, and unrewarding quests in a calling? i feel better about them already.
