Shadowlands was actually better than Dragonflight and War Within

Even with all its flaws and the damage it caused to the franchise, Shadowlands is still better than these expansions.

  • Torghast
Its content is actually better than delves, the fact that you can run new powers every run makes the content more interesting, the only reason delves are more popular its because its rewards, while torghast rewards were poor.

  • Powers
In shadowlands i could choose between 4 types of warriors, in war within i can choose 2.

  • Story
Even though I consider it a weak story, the plot of each of the 4 zones, including jailer, is still more interesting than the war within zones.
Maldraxus x Kyrians is 10 times better than Arathi x nerubians where there are no interesting characters.

  • Art
Even though the art of hollowfall is impeccable, shadowlands had 2 or 3 zones like that.

  • Danathrius
Incomparable to Ansurek, even more interesting than Xal’atath.

This could have been as good as delves, but they dropped the ball by not having it as a solo gearing path for players.

Imagine Torghast with the same effort as delves in loot aspect.

No lol God no.
Powers sucked becuase you got shoe horned into specific covens, story was the worst it ever was and did more damage to the wow story as a whole then any other expantion and the damage it did can never be undone. Torghast was a great example of blizzard makes an interesting idea, does zero follow up and zero things to make it better and it becomes a chore.
Art was ok
Danathrius was good
SL was bad.
The wait within is bad.
DF was ok, despite just being a pixar version of fast and the furious with dragons.

Are you alright there buddy?!
Should we be worried?!
Shadowlands was worse than Cataclism and that alone says a lot.
(I know ppl usually hate WOD but to me was a nice expansion, I miss my garrison)

This is why devs don’t read the forum for feedback.

You basically agreed with me.

As usual you can’t refute a single point about my arguments

What TWW does better than shadowlands in these aspects that i mentioned?

Shadowland’s was the prime example of what not to do.

  • Add a new zone where you can’t mount.
  • Make grinding Torghast a mandatory requirement for your Legendary item.
  • Restrict players to only one borrowed power option.
  • Make daily quests take 10+ minutes. Also, make daily quests tied to player power so you were punished if you missed a few days.
  • Take 8-9 months between the first major patch and the expansion launch.
  • Completely fail at creating a new antagonist: i.e. the Jailer and also destroy legacy characters such as Sylvanas.

Without the failures of Shadowlands we wouldn’t have had the success of Dragonflight.

I think aesthetically and thematically (superficially, not as it relates to a main story), Shadowlands was amazing.

All the zones were distinct and had excellent vibes, music, and NPCs. I particularly loved the Venthyr and Ardenweld.

As a theme park game, I felt they were way better and memorable than all of Dragonflight and so far TWW except for Hallowfall.

But yeah the story and systems in Shadowlands sucked.

I’ll agree with you on Dragonflight. Shadowlands was better for sure.

TWW I can’t say yet. I’m liking the Zal’atath character. I REALLY like Hallowfall… and Delves for me are so much >>>> Torghast. I like the delve variety. Torghast’s theme was just to static for me.

I’m a delve enjoyer. I really like delves, but torghast was more fun because random powers.

Shadowlands would have been my most favorite expansion of all time if they just made slight changes:

  • More Anima
  • One character being able to be in all Covenants over the course of the story
  • Torghast was fun but had crap rewards so wasn’t worthy of being repeatable
  • Portals in Oribos that leads to each zone

Every zone there was pretty amazing. The Jailor story was awful and we should have been able to wake the original Arbiter instead of blue boy taking over, that was dumb.

I don’t like the cave zones in War Within. It’s one of my least favorite expansions so far. I didn’t care for DF much and I’d rate the current xpac under that…or close to the same. We will see how future patches play out.

No, no it wasn’t.

It was so bad you only had to do the questline once and could then skip it on all your alts so they wouldn’t be ‘stuck’ doing it.

I did the Shadowlands quest 3 times, and that was more then enough for me to skip it on all my alts.

I am really enjoying leveling alts in Dragonflight. The quests are fun, and I can pick and choose my own content as I go along.

Revendreath and Ardenweld are two of my favorite zones in WoW. Especially Ardenweld music.

Once they removed restrictions on switching covs, Shadowlands became a very good expansion.

I say this as a player that doesn’t care too much about story, so no opinion on whether or not SL lore is any good. The content was fun and that’s all that matters to me.

huh… you could pick and choose in SL as well.

TWW and DF have the same system in place as SL did.

Shadowlands had many system problems, but it still better than TWW.
