Fury and arms can use shield bash but when would they ever use this? Without alternate equip and being able to have a 2nd set on demand I think this is pointless

In case your tank dies. You can taunt the boss, throw on your shield and hold threat while you try to finish the encounter.
It will almost never be used but it’s better to have it and never use it than have it be taken away from you.

Also has uses in pvp in combination with Shield block. Lowers incoming burst damage, with slam being your damage while wearing the shield to mitigate damage

Since they introduced Corruption, I’ve been unable to swap weapons in combat with a boss. Every time I try I get an error message telling me I can’t do that. It might only affect Corrupted weapons so you can’t swap effects or change your corruption value mid-combat. Same might apply to the shield thing too if that’s the case.
The point of unpruning wasn’t to bring back only inherently useful abilities.
It was to bring back nostalgic abilities.
Which is why Warlocks get back Curses and Corruption, but not stuff like Soul Swap or Fel Flame.

It’s probably the corrupted weapons. My warrior is able to swap to a 1h and shield while in combat as Arms right now, I just tried it.
Also I did a transmog run in BWL recently with a wand mainhand, and realized I couldn’t kill the magic-immune mages. So I grabbed the Legion legendary staff out of my bags to staff-thwack them to death instead.

Corruption on a 2 sec cast time didn’t they already mention it’s a dps loss as Destro/Demo to cast corruption.
I’m not saying that it’s not a good idea. I think it’s great.
The problem is you can’t swap to wep and shield while fighting. You have to go in equipped for it and it’s not practical.

Are you sure about that? I’m able to do so in open world content at least. I’d test it in a dungeon if I wasn’t about to go to sleep.
You just put them on your bars or make a macro, you can change weapons while fighting but not armour/trinkets.
I can’t believe I never thought about putting them on my bar.
I don’t use macros because I’m fast as hell normally.

Weapon swap macros make it a breeze, especially for Fury who can do so whilst continuing to have their 2H equipped in one hand.
I might look into this but I mostly play arms
iirc weapon swapping does trigger a gcd, so bear that in mind.
Yeah for Arms it’s a little worse, especially with personal loot making it hard to get both a 1H and shield.
I’m not sure it does in retail, it did in the earlier expansions but I’m pretty sure it’s only been triggering an internal (for other weapon swaps) cd for a while.
Well this is a Shadowlands change, and corruption is going away so it won’t be an issue.
I think it also depends if Shield Bash will be acting like a purge (it used to back in the day). It may give warriors the opportunity to swap to S&B to Shield Bash a major buff off like innervate.
i think warriors deserve to have a build where they 1hand a 2hander and use a shield.
If they dont get that playstyle, than Death Knights should.
Someone should get that.
