Don’t see the problem with setting all our ilvls to max ilvl if that is a change that makes it to live. Easy to see what classes are doing what damage. Alt friendly. And we’d be allowed to do what we many of us want to do and that’s just log on and do some pvp. PvP gear achieved this in the past towards the end of every season because eventually most mains would have max conquest gear in 2-3 months. I see there wouldn’t be any rpg-like/gear progression but it sure beats what we have now where we have to do everything but pvp to be on a level playing field.
I support this 100%. I have absolutely no problem allowing gear to be meaningful in casual PvP content like open-world or random Battlegrounds (in fact, I kind of encourage it to avoid backlash onto development from people who expect their gear to be impactful). I agree that PvP content is most enjoyable when gear is the least meaningful, because I prefer a fair playing field on which I know that if I beat someone, it’s because I played better than they did (rather than just one-shotting them or being unkillable because I outgear them).
I don’t absolutely hate the idea of allowing higher rating to acquire gear more quickly, but I do struggle to see who that really incentivizes. Most people who PvP at what Blizzard seems to consider high enough rating to “get a leg up” on other players (+2400) don’t do PvP because they’re looking to get the best gear out there. They do PvP because that’s the content that they enjoy and I struggle to believe that those players really want or care about having an advantage over 1800 players. I feel like the system of gear acquisition we had in place previously (ie. WoD gearing) worked very well for Conquest gear: weekly cap, with a cap that expands as the season progresses as a catch-up mechanic.
This is something that I love about the concept of templates or gear equalization.
That’s a very good point. Dillon made a good point on the weekend about how Hydra deathing a blind in one of his PvP videos was an “OMG!!!11!!!” moment back in the day, but nowadays, if you’re a priest who doesn’t death CC you’re an idiot who has no idea what you’re doing.
Oldest thread 6 hours lol
The scaling we have now could very possibly be in shadowlands but you wouldn’t see it if all chars were the same ilvl, esp now with the testing aura to force people into raid ilvl.
When your ilvl is the same the numbers you see are exactly the same as the person you are vs, even now.
Could test it in a duel on shadowlands by having someone remove gear tho pretty easily.
It looks like you can grind honor and upgrade the honor gear up to at least base conquest gear ilvl (assuming conquest gear can be upgraded with conquest above base ilvl)
Posted some fancy stuff in there now, will add more later
Did they fix the gear on the PvP vendor so they have better stats for PvP?
i feel like this is a good mindset in the ratrace that is progressing through pve content or messing around in random qs
just seems all around healthier in every way to have gear be a minimally impactful in rated competitive pvp as possible
i guess requiring a carrot to maintain interest if you aren’t getting high end rewards and aren’t having fun in whatever current situation makes sense
i’m less for complete templates than i used to be
but i still think m+ being a uniform pvp vendor where ilvl isnt really impactful and ‘text’ item effects being reduced to nearly 0 would be the best possible situation for the game
Please be this. I want skill to determine the victor in instanced pvp. World pvp and pve can be about who grinded more.
Rating, title, cosmetics all the carrot i need. So many ppl stop pvping when gear matters. Hurts the whole ecosystem. If you really want some power progression then gives us sockets or something but thats ittt
Just say you want them to be op lol they’re good now…
Shh and delete this post.
I keep hearing about PVP gated gear, but I can’t find anything of the sort in the Beta. Does this exist somewhere or is it just a bunch of fear mongering from people who think it’s coming?
In the latest posting about gearing:
Also mentioned in that post is that rated gear tops out at 226.
Ok that is good and all, your talking about end game tier but what about the beginning game, their is multiple people like myself that dont want to do pve, and just want to do pvp for gear but asking for 380 bgs or 80+ hours is a bit much for the honor gear then you time delay it by 7 weeks before you can level it up to 190… that puts pvp’ers soo far behind the curve its ridiculous.
as it is pvp’ers will already be doing m+ or at least heroic for the over powered trinkets that should not be allowed in pvp instances in my opinion like 3 trinkets to come back from death and heal 70% like c’mon blizzard.
in legion you wanted to get away from the trinkets being over powered now your bringing in some of the most over powered crap i’ve seen its just not right
Legion gearing was a really positive step in the correct direction,
They should have implemented more ways to influence your stats but the general idea that you just wore w.e gear with trinkets disabled in arena was a good design. Added bonus some of this forums most dis-likable people hated this design and it kept them away.
