I just purchased the Shadowlands expansion and I noticed that the character boost is not included with the base version.
Is this new? Because it seems to me that all the previous expansions included the character boost?

The base version does not include the boost and it says as much on the store page that you purchased it from.

Why include a boost in the base price of the game for a discount when they can charge you full price, especially with the new Allied races being out?

I know that the base version in the new expansion does not come with the boost.
My question is if this is a change from previous expansions. It seems to me, and I may not be remembering this correctly, but didn’t previous base versions of the expac contain the boost?

Yes previous base versions did have the boost included. Just like previous versions had both the mount and pet included in Deluxe version. They are trying to nickel & dime players with 3 versions now.

Yes they did, and people would complain that they had to pay for the boost that they didn’t want. So this way you can pay less to not have the boost, or pay a bit more, to get all the extra stuff.
Seems like a win/win to me. There’s an option for everyone!

Base edition is $40, previous with boost were $60.
Cheaper for those who don’t need_want the boost.
They stand to lose money if more buy basic.

what the two above me said. price went up and people complained, they added boosts, people still complained they didnt want them. Blizz drops the price and removes the boost and… people complain…

This is also why I suspect they shot down cross faction play. It’s not that it doesn’t make sense. They literally wrote an entire storyline with Saurfang and Anduin teaming up and then holding a cross faction funeral in Orgrimmar. 50% of the time I am standing right next to an Alliance player taking the same quests to kill the same guys.
It’s that they are afraid of losing money. And they don’t have enough faith in their product to believe cross faction will bring players back to make up that shortfall.

no, they are giving you options. before it was regular or deluxe. now you have a cheaper base, a mid level that is the same as the old regular i believe with added stuff, and deluxe just like before at the same price as before, but with a different name. there is no nickle and dimeing going on.

I don’t believe the deluxe was $80 last year. I may be mistaken though.
Dude these are the best options yet. You have your cheapy option. You have your mid level option with the usual stuff. And then you have the high end option.
The high end option is awesome because it includes a free month, so realistically it’s only $5 more than the mid tier option. Idk guys, I think they killed it on this one. Quit looking for things to complain about.

I think the base version is cheaper then previous expact. But I migth be wrong
just checked, it was $70… my bad. still close and get a transmog too.
Edit: oh yeah and 30 days game time you didnt get with deluxe either.
But $70 was $10 more then they year be fore’s deluxe.
and with 30 days game time added on that wasnt part of the deluxe before.
There was a loophole where if you applied a BfA purchase to a second account tied to your main account, you got a boost for about $30-50 depending on if it was on sale.
This closes that loophole.
It looked pretty clear to me in what each option you want to buy provided. There were no hidden innuendos in regards to what you get. In fact, there are pictures attached to each option too.
Not entirely sure what you’re complaining about OP … you appear to have alright grammar and I’m assuming you have enough comprehension skills to be able to articulate what you’re spending your money on.
You could have just looked at the pictures even to know what you’re purchasing.
