Shadowlands plot vs GoT season 8

Which one is worse?

Considering that we don’t know how this expansion is going to end… I say Game of Thrones.

GoT was a hot dumpster fire.

This is an understatement. I will never let go of how bad the Mass Effect series ending was but GoT made that look decent.

Nothing can surpass the horribleness that was GoT season 8. Blizzard does seem to be trying, though.

S8 GoT’s story was so bad it retroactively ruined the rest of the show.

Shadowlands story isn’t great, but it hasn’t made me regret playing this game so I gotta give it to GoT on that one.

Truth. I can’t rewatch the series because of how it ended.

Well I never really cared about WoW lore, and I actually got invested in the GoT lore, so season 8 was just a horrific disappointment for me (and that’s an understatement). So I’d say GoT for sure.

Now that HBO has set a successful precedent for reshooting/redoing old content with the Snyder Cut of JL, they should just reshoot GoT season 8 so the IP isnt dead forever.

I mean heck, they could just cut out the entire second half and reshoot episode 3 so the night king just tragically kills everyone and wins and the show ends and that would require minimal shooting and editing and make a lot more people happy with the series. It would make a better philosophical point too (while everyone is squabbling about power they ignored the real threat until it was too late)

Which when you think about it is genuinely impressive.

Like there are some bad endings to shows or video games. Scrubs is one that comes to mind with Season 8 having a near perfect ending and then Season 9 existing for some unknown reason.

But I can watch Scrubs and just pretend that Season 9 didn’t exist. I watch the series and then just stop watching after the credits roll on the S8 finale.

Or Supernatural, with pretty much everything after Season 5. Lucifer locked away safely, the Yellow Eye Demon dead and their mother and father avenged. It’s a good ending, if not necessarily a happy one.

But I can’t do that with GoT. Knowing how it ends is just…urgh. The only other show that’s come close to GoT’s ending would be How I Met Your Mother, which since the ending was shot super early apparently, basically undid a bunch of seasons of character development and it turned out that the titular mother was some random who died lmao.

I just stop at season 6 and go “welp that’s it”

The ending of season 6 was Cersei going all:

wasn’t it?

God that was an amazing episode. It was odd agreeing with and cheering on the villain.

Until the next book is out, nothing past Jon Snow dying in the show is canon as far as I’m concerned.

Hahaha you think it’s coming out. How cute.

No but FR, that fat bastard needs to hurry up.

The books are ruined for me too. I think we talked about this before but I can’t stand the fact GRRM turned Dany crazy and killed her.

I’m fine with her not being the queen but I wish something else was done. Like, her and her dragons decided to return south to completely stamp out slavery or it was her and the dragons (instead of Snow) that disappeared into the unknown.

My personal theory is that GRRM is sick of it and won’t ever finish it.

But Brandon Sanderson will. I’m not sure on the specifics of how he’d go about doing it, but he’ll find a way.

My theory is he really did give HBO the real ending to the books and he’s now scrambling to fix it because he does not want his legacy tarnished.

GoT. Easy. Such utter crap.

Night King should’ve been the end boss the entire time meanwhile we had a little genocide and an okay ending.

The thing that was terrible throughout was how the night king was literally pumped up for 2 seasons then in 1 episode he’s gone. Poof, army gone. Done deal. Oh and I forgot to mention unless you have darkvision you can’t see anything!

WoW’s plot is uhh…well…yep. It’s forgettable at best which is to say it’s not hate worthy so it’s better in that regard.

Seriously though Blizz should make another RTS to continue the main plot points of the story so you can see how each faction develops. This “you’re the champion” stuff is really annoying. Ya I’m the savior of the world, meanwhile I’m struggling to find decent consistent M2-4 groups.

I think it’s feasible, but the show does a REALLY job poor of showing it.

Madness and greatness are two sides of the Targaryen coin, and we’re not deep enough in the books to see where Daenerys lands. She could still become the hero she wants to be, or she could become a greater monster than her father.

But I like the side-characters more than the main ones, they give the books their charm and Lord Manderly of White Harbour is a BAMF.

This is plausible, but I don’t like to think about it because of how plausible it is.

GoT story is going to always look much worse since we know all the facts surrounding how and why dumb and dumber took the story into a dumpster fire.

Blizzard is still actively building its own pyre in terms of where its story is going.

It’s the same with GoT though. It rectons so much and destroyed old characters it’s insane.

To be fair, the last view expansions had all bad lore. Time investment in WoW is a lot more. It’s close for me. Very close. I hate Shadowlands so much I’m going to say it’s in the same level of terrible as GoT s.8.

This attitude is understandably, but also a reason why some mangakas die in their 50’s.
