Shadowlands Launch Date (speculation)

It’s Tuesday I’m bored so I want to hear what date you guys think Shadowlands will drop.

My bet is 12/01/2020 (01/12/2020 for Non-Americans on the American forums)

Here is my reasoning:
Our cloaks will reach 125 corruption resistance on 9/8/2020 (9/14 if you wait until Monday)
Since Corruption and CR go away in the pre-patch they need to give at least 1 month of playtime with full CR otherwise shiftshow-obviously
That puts the pre-patch dropping on 10/6/2020 at the soonest
Blizz said 4-6 weeks pre-patch time putting launch at 11/3/2020 or 11/17/2020
I’m going to assume COVID slows down work so 6 weeks puts the date on 11/17/2020 but the week after that is Thanksgiving in America and they won’t drop an expansion a week before a national holiday when the game will be breaking nonstop and they’ll have to pay holiday pay.
That means they’ll add 2 more weeks putting the drop on 12/01/2020 avoiding working over the holiday and getting the last minute Black Friday sales plus giving them 6 weeks to test the first raid putting the raid on 01/12/2021 which avoids raiding during the holidays just like they did with Nyalotha.

But that’s just speculation, what do you guys think?

Im guessing last week of November.

last week of November is thanksgiving unless youre counting the 2 days in the following week as the last week of november in which case the same release date as me

Black Friday, day after Thanksgiving. Would be insane, but it could happen.

I think you are close. I would personally guess Thursday Dec 3rd.

I can tell you when it won’t be.

Right before thanksgiving.
Right before Christmas.
A month before Christmas because they’d have to delay raid release.
New year’s week.

They usually don’t line up raid releases with holidays and they don’t line up expansion releases with holidays. They want to enjoy holidays, not fixing bugs.

Same reason I don’t think they’ll do first week of December. New year’s raid release.

But then theyd have to pay tons of holiday pay, or the forums riot cus games broke and noones working on fixing it

nyalotha came out 1/21 6 weeks is a stretch for opening the first raid but given the other times they could drop it

You can bet the game will be ready by the end of November in time for the Holidays. No doubt about it. Bobby already said they were on track so those goblins will get your work bonus this year, mark my words.

They could but they probably won’t.

Raid releases post expansion launch is roughly 4 weeks with mythic after that. 1 or 2 weeks, can’t remember.

Dont get me wrong i hope they release sooner, but a sooner release date either means short prepatch(people get upset becuase it doesnt fit their schedule) or raiding over holiday (blizz doesnt like)
Alternately release later but doesnt give them time to fix issues with release (and blizz releases are doomed for like the first 2 weeks

Honestly, I could see a November 3rd or 10th release, as that seems to mesh best with how Blizz rolls out raids, it’d be right around 4 months of beta, and also avoids some of the other big holiday releases.

November 3rd could work but theyd have to put out the raid on 12/1 otherwise theyll have world first right around christmas and they postponed nyalotha for christmas
