Yeah, I’ve been reading through stuff like that and it is starting the suck the interest right out of me.
Maining monk and priest. I don’t really care about coconut abilities so my monk is going to the skeleton wars and my priest to the vampires.
I’m not 100% sure how PnP will be handling Slands from an RP perspective, we’ve joked about Dark Irons getting so drunk they some how mole machine themselves into the Shadowlands. “Oi, this isn’t Brewfest!?”
Otherwise Juspion would fit in fine in Malalaladrax. He’d have no problem making friends with skeletons and just being that nice wholesome friendly good guy amongst the giant fighty skeletons. I don’t really know anything about the vampire zone since I haven’t been following the spoilers but the transmog set looks cool so Japsion will go there.
With that I’m mostly as ready as you can be. I been collecting the Argent transmog sets and have leather, cloth and plate now. I don’t have a mail class at 50 and don’t have the time (or interest) to level my shaman (which is sitting at 41) and get them threw a rotation to collect the mail set. I’m content not getting it. I also have two cursed keepsakes so I’m good there.
I really am extremely turned off to every covenant. I’ll likely go Rivendreth by the theme alone, but none appeal to me in the slightest. I dislike how PvP is looking all together…
Honestly; I really just have no desire to go to Shadowlands. RP looks like a mess, PVP appears to be even worse, and the armor is a hit or miss.
Just nothing appeals in this Expansion. Going in with no expectations.
It’s so incredibly convoluted. I don’t know why they’re so intent on time gating this stuff when, regardless, people who want to burn themselves out by being the strongest immediately can and will find ways to do so.
To be honest, I might wait until the first round of catchup mechanics come out before I actually buy the expansion. I’m having fun RPing with my friends and designing/attending dicemaster events, and I’m not sure if I want my characters to go into the shadowlands in-character.
Honestly, I’m most excited about new battle pets because apparently that’s the type of WoW player I am now
I’d like to have one character in each covenant, but I’m all aboard the Venthyr hype train.
It’s been so long since I did more than the absolute basic minimum in an expansion that one of my goals is to actually complete some content while it’s current. I want to learn how to play my class reasonably well, maybe raid a little bit.
As for RP, I’m starting from scratch and rebuilding my characters from the ground up, which has been daunting but super fun so far. The most difficult part so far has been finding a middle ground between my love of Flaming Green Edgy Warlock Mogs and the vision I have for Steve, which is decidedly non-flashy. I don’t know if he’ll even be a warlock IC, so I’ll have to weigh that against how cool he looks wielding a skullscythe.
Read through that Wowhead post about Renown and that’s a massive yikes. One of the comments says it’ll take about 4 months to get through it if you play daily. I play this game to have fun and relax and this is starting to turn into a chore.
Yeah I’ll have max renown after like 8 months. They keep implementing these stupid grinds…if they would just FINALLY get us some player or guild housing and put in the actual effort people would stay subbed just so they could keep their lots or collect stuff for decoration but no it’s a brand new gimmick every expansion now.
I guess Dragon Isles is next where we pick our Dragon flight/covenant to join and empower our legendary nose rings. Maybe we finally remove the sword stuck in Azeroth too only to find out that Silithis is the literal butthole of Azeroth and it’s got hemorrhoid’s now
Renowned is going to be like me and Legion right now and finally unlocking Artifact skins and leveling my followers lmao. So maybe in an expansion or two I’ll get renowned.
Tbh the one thing I wanted the most out of Shadowlands was character customizations which I got already. If they bait me with more as the expansion goes on will keep me happy. Also living this quarantine life, all my other hobbies have been canceled by covid so at least there’s WoW.
I think I’m ready! Still need to do some minor things like update addons and get professions set up, though for the most part I think I’m set. I’m very much done with BfA (if I hear someone say Azerite one more time…) so looking forward to the change of pace and the new scenery.
In terms of covenant, I think I’m going to be rolling Night Fae on my rogue here. Thematically it’s the one that I’m most drawn to, and given that none of my characters will probably be going into the Shadowlands ICly, it’s a totally OOC choice. They’ve got neat stuff and the most backpack style options out of the four from what I gather, so I’m all for it haha.
RP wise? Again, I doubt most of my characters if any are actually going to be involved in Shadowlands RP. Could happen with my DK as she is a member of the Ebon Blade, but we’ll see. No plans so far but maybe something will happen.
All in all, looking forward to what Shadowlands has in store.
The one thing I’m sure of is that I’ll be levelling Alliance first. This might be Cef, basically A-side Sef. It also might be one of two Kul Tirans, DK or Shaman.
I’m digging playing a big burly dude after many years of mostly being skeletons and elf girls.
But on Tuesday morning (in Australia), I imagine guild discord will be going and I’ll decide then. I might feel compelled to go with Cef, but we’ll see. The DK is UH, the Shaman would be if a healer was needed at the time.
I didn’t get everything I wanted done this expac. I never got 5 masks done, though I almost did. My computer was just too much of a potato at the time. Over 10 ilvls below the suggested ilvl for 5 masks and runnin at 12fps, I think my best attempt got Alleria down to around 20%. Frustrating, but I got over it.
I’ve purposefully avoided theorycrafting covenants and will go with the flow. If I go DK or Shaman, I will just choose the best one, and be ready to grind out a new one if it gets nerfed with all the other min/maxing shamans in the world etc.
I have four versions of Sef, and I’d like to do 1 in each covenant. This is another reason to go ‘rogue casual’ in SL, not feel compelled to pick for any reason other than their personalities/backstories etc.
But… we’ll see :0
No thank you Magni I don’t want to collect Azerite anymore.
Anyone who played during vanilla considers this canon already.
Did somebody say woons!?
I feel like if Blizzard hasn’t made it canon yet, they pretty much hint at it frequently by putting the worst things in Silithus.
Silithus is pretty terrible.
Also looking at the way the renown works, I am suddenly less confident that Shadowlands is going to be as Alt friendly as it seems to be advertising itself. At the very, least, with the legendary system, it’s definitely not multi-spec friendly. Not at the beginning, anyways.
Thankfully, one of the rogue BiS legendaries works for all three specs for PvE and PvP so I’m happy.
Then that means Sargeras’ sword was… and he was… and oh my.
I just noticed they nerfed the last Kyrian soulbind, which was:
Kyrian/Pelagos: Let Go of the Past now provides 1% reduced magic damage taken per stack, instead of Versatility.
And I am so happy that I no longer feel guilty for not picking the blue humans. Night Fae is now the most desired for rogues and I’m all for it.
I have decided I will main my Undead Warrior for this expansion, as she has some pretty intense stakes regarding the Shadowlands going in. Other than that I have no clue what I’m doing. I’ll do the clumsy dinosaur thing of figuring it out as I go along. As I always have. As I always will.
Oh man it’s Johlein time!
