Shadowlands Hunter class changes

I am SO excited about Flayed Shot. Essentially brings back the gameplay of Black Arrow/Lock&Load!

Iā€™m just going to throw out there that your arguments are always going to be rather poor when it comes reasoning why a melee hunter spec shouldnā€™t exist. The points about pvp and classical design choices are fine but ultimately irrelevant for arguing if something should exist or not.

Really itā€™s getting old to see complaining about melee survival in every single post on this class forum and Iā€™d be lying if I didnā€™t say itā€™s killing my empathy as time goes on. If anything I think you and other should just take a page from Ghorakā€™s book who seems to be one of the only people on this forum that can talk about wanting ranged survival back without the asinine assumptions and arguments.

Iā€™m not going to lie, I agree with you here.

  1. Donā€™t get me wrong, I did really enjoy RSV, but I also really enjoy MSV. I feel for people who really did ā€œloveā€ that spec, at least at the time (who knows how it would be now had it still existed). I just donā€™t get all the hate for MSV, If they had just added it instead of changing it, no one would complain except for us who actually enjoy MSV and want to see some buffs.

TL:DR

I like RSV and MSV, but why canā€™t people who want RSV back just petition to have it back instead of blaming MSV like us players who enjoy it had anything to do with the decision.

Please noā€¦ WOD sniper training bonus was a punishment in PvP. I agree with target cap removed with trickshotā€¦ and scatter on different DR.

limiting barrage multishot and beast cleave to 8 and 5 targets each completely neuters the BM spec. I canā€™t think of any reason why theyā€™d do this after 15 years.

WoD sniper training added a lot to the skill ceiling. Good hunters knew when they had an opportunity to stand still instead of constantly running away.

If the avoidance passive isnā€™t doing its job then it should be buffed. Ideally pets shouldnā€™t be able to get cleaved to death but should die when focused. If you can revive your pet to full health in almost a gcd then pet management as a skill nears irrelevancy.

The whole reason why it was removed was because of large dps penalty for heavy movement fights. This mastery handicaps marksman in pve and pvp. Outside of standing still you would hit like a ā€œwet noodle.ā€ I raided seriously as MM in pandaria, and I quit the game in WoD because of sniper training. This mastery is disgusting. Bad idea! please get it out of your heads.

I think putting a cap on five targets multi shot allows them to buff multi shot on a lower amount of targets and not become op vs more targetsā€¦I could easily be wrong if they donā€™t number tune multi shot up. But with mass majority of fights being 3-5 targets I wouldnā€™t be to worried even in mythic plusā€¦but Iā€™d hope for a number buff on the lower amount of targets

Been testing a bit on MM on the Alpha build. It. is. AMAZING. It feels like I have a ton of shots to choose from. Not sure but it feels like Focus regenerates a bit faster, and I always have the focus to cast what I need. Using Chimera Shot, Dead Eye, and Lock & Load feels very much like old MM. Iā€™m hoping getting access to Flayed Shot will help me feel a lot like Ranged SV again. The only feedback I have so far is that Serpent Sting needs a longer duration by about 4-6 seconds. Volley looks great but Iā€™m worried about it not being on the same row as Barrage/Explosive Shot. Not having the focus reduction from Master Marksman opens up a ton of talent options. Itā€™s literally everything Iā€™ve been asking for.

Understand where youā€™re coming from. The major point is bringing back mobile AiS.

The game has evolved so significantly with content mechanics and melee mobility that there really should be room for this.

So have you tried survival spec? Do arcane shot/kill shot shoot out of the little bow or can they shoot out of an equipped bow?

Iā€™m trying to watch as many hunter streams as I can and MM still kinda looks like dumpster juice. Maybe Iā€™m wrong or the people playing donā€™t really know what they are doing but in pvp it looks like itā€™s going to get dumped on.

Bloodshed will prolly never get used because itā€™s on the last row with the one talent all bm take ( forgot the name).

Survival with kill shot works, shares same animation as serpent sting with small cross bow.

Arcane shot for survival though says requires a ranged weapon. So maybe a bug or maybe a hidden treasure who knows?!?

They are unusable without a range weapon currently. Iā€™m assuming a bug and itā€™ll get fixed in subsequent builds.

Have you tried equip macros? That way you swap weapons for each ability?

Volley looks pretty cool. Hope itā€™s actually viable, though, and right now it doesnā€™t look well designed just from the tooltip.
