Shadowlands Hate Thread

Hello My name is Claptimus and today I announce a hate thread of all the bad things Shadowlands did wrong in the hopes the devs won’t make the same mistakes in upcoming expansions onwards. For the the bad things to be heard and fixed in the future for the betterment of Azeroth and all her worlds. We all love our warcraft which is why we play this game the good and the bad, so Positive Constructive Criticism is what I strive for

Lets begin shall we

  1. The quests are bland, The zones are beautiful and the aesthetic is there but the quests are just not something you want to do again
  2. The Maw is Terrible (The tiers, No mounting, Overclustered Mobs)
  3. Spread out Alongated World Quests
  4. Flight Paths take forever, I get its suppose to be the theme of the expac but when you do a quest and it tells you to go say to one point then to a whole different part of the world you pretty much have to hoof it back, like for instance when the npc says to meet her back to so and so at least take me with you damn it or at least a portal or something, or better yet Flight whistle
  5. Gear is rng based and limited at higher Ilvls with bad rng and limited drops aka gearing system is trash, It was never this bad in previous expansions, Gear vault gives you multples of same or items you already have for weeks on end
  6. Covenants are pretty much hit and miss each spec has an ideal one and its different for every spec and has a 2 week cooldown for resetting, so much for choice
Im missing things ill add to the list PvP is another story and I don’t dabble into that
  7. Torghast it was a great idea but its nothing but a slog and only rewards soulash which is limited to only legendary crafting, No other incentive other then flexing them solo skills

Blizzard tuned an immersive MMO into the most expensive mobile app in videogame history.

And Anima, the motherlode of sadness

Have they ever really been replayable in a fun way? Not for me.

Subjective, but yeah it can use some “fun” to it

Their lesson learned from BFA was it was too short, didn’t really get to use my skills so they went the other way. Not sure what people really want here.

It’s actually far better than most previous expansions. Drop chances at gear may be low now but there has always been some RNG - amount of drop chance.

I added torghast its so forgettable I forgot it XD

and anima seems easier to get now but yea that too

Well, as Ion said, they make stuff when some dev has a “great idea”, so they just implement them, look for some niche that enjoys that content and says “We have plenty of players that loves this idea”.

For me WoW is a chance for interns to get their “creative” ideas implemented, even if those ideas destroys the game.

Blizzard should have made covenants about cosmetics and story ONLY. Tying player power to them was an absolutely terrible decision.

Railroading the story for alts is also a bad idea. I like the freedom leveling provided in past expansions. Everything feels limited and locked in SL.

I agree that the story is bland, but I don’t know how to fix that. I don’t really care about what’s going on in the SL, that’s all I know. Some characters are cool, but that’s about it.

Edit: My brain is slow this morning.

Torghast is trash.

The maw is a million shades of brown, gray and tedium.

The vault is a rigged slot machine requiring tons of work every week.

The quests are only good if you skip the cinematics and don’t read the awkward text.

Nothing makes any sense in the Warcraft universe.

I’m in the same boat. In my case, I don’t care because we’re in the afterlife. I feel so disconnected from Azeroth that I can’t be bothered to care what’s going on. I’ve never been interested in WoW’s afterlife, and that hasn’t changed.

i think you need to learn a little more about this before you complain about it.

this isn’t even a word.

put your hearthstone somewhere more central.

get a teleport cloak.
main city > oribos ??? profit.

I disagree with pretty much everything you said about torghast.

seems like you spend more time reading the forum, than playing the game. :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s not even the color code that is bad. it’s the fact that mobs are everywhere. And when you get additional eye levels you are harrassed non-stop. I just want to alt tab and read something for a bit or play my turn on hearthstone while completing these boring, unchanging maw dailies…Is that too much to ask?

This is your opinion. Mine differs.

The Maw is easy once you have a decent ilvl (and by decent I mean anything above 200).

I wouldn’t mind having more WQs available at any given time. I agree they are too spread out. But that’s just my opinion as well.

It takes less than 5 minutes to get from any point in SL to any other point in SL using flight paths. Would I like flying mounts to be usable? Sure. But it’s not as big a deal as many seem to think.

RNG is RNG. Everyone runs into a gear ceiling eventually, it’s inevitable. I prefer the current system to a Diablo-like rain of gear, but that’s just me and I know not everyone agrees.

Covenants are specifically designed to be tough to switch and the game makes that very clear before you commit. I respect your right to not like it but Blizzard clearly differs.

I enjoy Torghast very much and judging from the folks running around in the antechamber waiting to enter it every time I’m there, I’m not alone.

I respect your right to your opinion but it’s only opinion, not fact. Mine differs in some (but not all) regards.

Those people in the antechamber are there for the soul ash. I am there every week for the soul ash. Warrior legendaries have a good variety. What’s bad is making me do this every. single. week.

There is no alternative for soul ash.

And now 9.1 is giving us even more Choreghast. Don’t get me wrong. I enjoy Torghast…once a month. Making me do this constantly is nuts.

What is… Stockholm Syndrome?

I earned enough Soul Ash for two Level 4 legendaries over a month ago. How much do you need? At some point, you shouldn’t need the Soul Ask any more, so if you aren’t there because you enjoy it, then either you’re dragging out what is apparently an unpleasant experience for you or…

I needed spell reflect legendary, bladestorm/mortal strike legendary, exploiter legendary. Got all 3 and upgraded them to 235. Saved about 5,000 soul ash for the upcoming covenant legendary.

Then a multiglad told me the easiest way to beat locks in splay(3s arena). I need the leaper legendary for triple heroic leap. So I crafted the 225 version of that(no way am I paying 60k for a runecarving item AGAIN)

So now back to 1,000 soul ash. I’ll have to grind that backup to be ready for the new legendary. Sigh.

I could have forgiven so much more if they had included a flight whistle. It’s such a pain to get around to the world quests and to take it away after two expansions was just malicious.

as opposed to having his nose firmly pressed between blizzards cheeks?.. right.

is there anything subjective about a 3 color palette being underwhelming?

is that because they like the content or because its the only zone to gain currency for – wait for it – more legendaries – very innovative blizzard. no, the people you see are not there because they love it.

whistle would have been nice, or at least make the zones interconnected, the flight system is absurd and mostly use legion hearth to portal hop back back to orbi
