Shadowlands has to be the DUMBEST grind I've ever done

I decided to catch up on some reputations for rewards in past expansions, and I’m shocked at how dumb Shadowlands is…

You grind out the reputation for Undying army. Do you get the rewards now? No.
You grind out the renown for Undying army. Do you get the rewards now? No.
You grind out the anima for the rewards. Do you get the rewards now? No.
You grind out the GRATEFUL OFFERINGS for Undying army. Now you can have the rewards, yay!

Like, am I missing something? Why is it so clowny and hilariously pointless to level a reputation, and ANOTHER reputation (renown), and you still can’t get the rewards?! what the heck man?

That’s why it’s called Rep, because it takes a lot of repetition

It’s a feature.
SL has a drought lorewise and you are supposed to “feel” that.

I’m not even kidding.

The mission tables also suck. I saw a video on the “best” way to do them and its really janky lol.

But yeah those mini reps like undying army… probably never gunna do those it is crazy.

Yeah… The grateful offerings especially, not sure that currency has a reason to exist any longer.

Even though they’re infinitely spammable now, the grateful offering currency is still a slap in the face moment.

did you kill furblogs for the winterspring saber mount, back before they nerfed it?

??? what man

It took and eternity and was soooooo boring. There were very limited mobs you could kill for rep and everyone was trying to do the rep at the same time. There was also no tap sharing at that time.
Its been greatly nerfed, much easier now.
Was another example of a ridicules grind.

I did that quest back in 2012. I don’t recall exactly, but I’m pretty sure I had to feed a cub in winterspring every day for like a month. Then I got the mount.

You get feat of strength, or used to, also

Now you see one reason everybody, or almost everybody, hated that expac.

Shadowlands have remarkable levels of clunky grinds.

It’s a layer of waste of time on top of another, on top of another, on top of another, etc.

And don’t even get me started on Unity mog set grind…

Unless you’re going for some achievements I don’t know why you’d subject yourself to that torture. ?

‘>.<’ Actually, yes – yes I did!

I had a specific Hunter just for the task. As soon as I got the mount, I parked him in Everlook.

He’s still there.

Up until the Store Kitteh mount, Winterspring Nightsaber was my goto ground mount for Piddy.

The nice thing about Shadowlands reputations is that they didn’t block you from doing the story unless you caught up on all those reps like they do in DF. Reputations were an option you did if you wanted to, otherwise you could ignore them.

Well everybody in the forum echo chamber felt that way which is a minority of forum users which in turn is a minority of “the players”

Put asside what you see in forums which are notoriously biased. Do you see any proof anywhere else that SL was hated by “the community” as the forum echo chamber claims?

Personally it was one of my favorite expansions.

Personally I hated it. A lot of people hated it.

That’s not just a “forum echo chamber” opinion.

Yes, of the many thousands of people who played the game some liked it, some hated it. But no one has ever shown proof outside of the forums, here, reddit, etc, that a majority hated it much less everyone.

No question there was a very loud and vocal group in the forums that hated it and several mega sub YouTube creators jumped on the band wagon to farm their clicks but we never saw unbiased evidence of it being hated by a majority of players.

They thought they could get away with this. A lot of people found the reward structure in Shadowlands to be demotivating. I myself bought 1 piece of gear for transmog which will never be usable on another character and never did it again. They want the illusion of rewards without giving them.

I can’t say I hated it. But the grinds and the rewards couldn’t have been more demotivating. I skipped everything that they intentionally made pointless.

They said Shadowlands was going to be alt-friendly. Gear rewards that are locked to covenant progress are the opposite of alt-friendly. It’s pretty clear from this design that they still hate alts. The more alts you have, the more hateful it feels.

Too bad they have some of the best mogs/mounts/pets in the game :stuck_out_tongue:
