Shadowlands ... flight for leveling

this is NOT another discussion about pathfinder or the design ideology of flight in general

have they said anything about mounts/flying mounts level requirements in the xpac as it relates to leveling through prior expansions?

meaning, since at level 10 we choose an xpac to play through for our 10-50 leveling and I choose an xpac that either already has flight (wrath) or ive unlock pathfinder in previously (legion) will I be able to fly at level 10?

has any blue covered this topic?

Nope, we’re all blind about the early leveling and flying.

:frowning: that sucks

I hope so, it’s the only real reason I’m thinking of doing the current pathfinder. Not all that interested in BfA stuff but making it easier for alts is something I can get motivated about.

If I was a betting (wo)man I would say Chromie Time will inhibit your ability to fly while leveling from 10 to 50 in any expansion.

Now they said you can still level your character without Chromie Time, with the new scaled down system. You’ll just be jumping from one expansion to the next until you’ve reached level 50. So once you leveled out of the “classic Cata” zones you should gain access to flying.

But that’s my opinion.

ill likely be leveling alts through legion or WoD, certainly the quickest xpacs to level through (if you have flight)

I just hope I don’t have to run around on foot for 10 more level, then on a slow horse for 20 more, while doing content thats 6-8 years old

We have not heard anything about it yet. This is something I really want to know myself. First Blizzard did say we can level anywhere we wanted to and in order for that to work we would need flying pretty early to effectively level in zones like Storm Peaks.
Second we have the older pathfinders to think about as well. At least for me I would hate leveling in Pathfinder zones on the ground again after I already did the work to fly in those zones while leveling.

I believe Blizzard said they are looking into it and don’t have a solid answer yet.

I would believe those areas that required flying to get to are considered max level content. Because I know you weren’t able to fly in WotLK until you hit max level, when it first launched.

valid point, though with pathfinder zones there is no level requirement, so hopefully they lower the flight req to 10 since I can start legion or wod or bfa at 10

Well you get flying at 60, which is 1/2 of the max level.

Maybe they will take that metric of levels so you will get it at 30, halfway to 60.

I see where you’re coming from when it comes to Pathfinder. But I believe Chromie Time is meant to create a more original questing experience (no flying) within the chosen expansion. And I can easily see the Devs treating it as such.

maybe, that would blow up my plan for leveling in wod or legion though

id probably level in wrath if thats the case

no, they haven’t.

That actually is the only way I will even level up more alts, if I can have flying right at lvl 10 if I level through WoD.

Side note:
I can also see them gimping flying in order to promote their mount equipment slot. Purchasing flying allows you to fly at 200-250% speed no more upgrades. But there will be a flight turbo boost mount equipment to use.

I refuse to believe even they would be so stupid to do that.

You never know. Aside from the ability to waterwalk with every mount, mount equipment is kind of useless once you can fly.

if they mess up flying or looms in any way shape of form I won’t be buying it, won’t buy it anyway until they make a official statement. won’t trust them not to mess this whole thing up a ton.

Hope i’m wrong, but it’s at the point of show me, no free trust purchases, ya used up that good will with WOD

We will likely know how it works by the time the Beta rolls around and it’ll be in beta for a few months.

Like the mog BTW

Same for me. I’d be the first in line to pre-purchase Shadowlands if blizzard came out with an official statement on when flight is going to be available (assuming it isn’t spite-gated again). As it stands no pre-purchase, and more than likely I’ll be playing FFIV come launch day.
