Shadowlands Features

Just me, or does Shadowlands seem a little feature light? I look towards class changes the most with most xpacks but in this one there hardly seems to be any. That’s not really even a feature though, but it still doesn’t help that it’s missing.

Torghast looks pretty cool, but that’s about all the xpack has going for it… Where’s the beef?

Its exactly what we feared. All their focus was on scaling and leveling zones and not on actual content.

I’m actually glad they did this, without content focus to hype up the launch, Blizzard will have to either improve their philosophy on the game or lose a lot more subs.

Games like WoW can skate by for years with raid patches and grindy systems, going back to the leveling process brings their design choices to bare against the scrutiny of the industry without hype to defend it.

Honestly we contribute to Blizzard getting away with the things they do by giving them a pass to see the next content patch.

Character customizations, Covenants, Torghast, world level scaling, new starter zone for all, and all of the things we haven’t gotten details on yet.

Is it enough or is it interesting? I can’t tell you. That’ll be a decision each person has to make on their own. Everyone’s different.

To me, covenants are on the same level as garrisons. Remember garrison abilities? Yeah, not too exciting. The mogs are kinda cool I guess… From first look, SL gets :-1:

I agree.

  • Covenant’s didn’t really sound like consistent content.
  • Torghast, Blizzard said during Blizzcon they were thinking of making it have a lockout. So it could possibly be super short content for the week like Visions are.
  • The new anima system is supposedly going to have a weekly cap like valor/conquest points.

So if you don’t Raid, do M+, or PvP, what are you going to really be doing? WQs for rep grinds again? If they dont innovate WQs at all i’m going to be really disappointed. If Torghast really does get a lockout then I think the first cycle of Shadowlands is going to end up like WoD.
Not everyone wants to level a 100th alt and character customization isn’t active content.

Shadowlands does look great, but I agree that it’s features look lacking. I look forward to alpha/beta to see what they’ve done since Blizzcon.

I will say this it is a new expac and we do not have all the information. Now this being said they could or should have released some new information. Personally I have a few things I would like to see unpruned for Enhancement shaman. I would love for blizzard to treat enhancement shamans like an actual spec not a red headed stepchild.

Literally know next to nothing about what’s coming other than major features, and those major features are pretty much on par with past expansions.

When Blizzard has more information to release about Shadowlands, we’ll know about it.

The concept of Legion M+ dungeons feels revolutionary compared to four rep grinds and a role-agnostic scenario tower.

If they really give us a ton of cool cosmetics to chase it might be okay…? I’ll give it the benefit of the doubt and check it out, but if it’s really just rep grinds and Withered Training 2.0, I can’t see myself sticking around for long.

How exactly do you propose they “innovate” world quests? They are quests you do… out in the world. Exactly as stated.

Throwing around buzzwords like innovate with no actual feedback is worthless.

By making a bigger variety of quests instead of just having us repeat the same quests from the leveling experience? Actually having a plethora of WQs instead of the same ones popping up after 1 or 2 days?

Last I checked I wasn’t a game developer. I’m a customer stating that I think WQs are boring and they need to change. If you think WQs are fine you must be really fun person to be around.

You sound like a brand new player experiencing max level content for the first time.

WQs are a huge improvement over older systems.

Are we really complaining about an expansion we know little to almost nothing about and that won’t be out for around a year or so? lol wow.

You caught me, I’m a wrath baby.

Just because WQs are better than old daily quests doesn’t mean they’re perfect and don’t need worked on. I’m not going to debate about WQs anymore either, so have a good one.

I think it’s okay to be concerned.

At Legion and BfA’s product announcements, they gave us a pretty good overview of what to expect. While there may be some minor additions, it’s pretty safe to assume we know the “big” features coming in Shadowlands already.

It honestly just looks like more of the same boring stuff we’ve been doing.

Covenants will be neat the first time and then an annoying slog the next. Another rented ability doesn’t sound great at all. Although the tmog stuff looks cool but we’ll see if that can carry them.

New race customization should have happened years ago and are what allied races should have been. The number of new things they gave doesn’t sound all that great when you consider how many times they’ll be split between genders and such.

The deprunning as an expansion feature is pretty worrisome. Prune shouldn’t have happened in the first place and treating it like a big feature is kind of insulting.

The maw just sounds like all kinds of terrible. I’v played things like it before and it’s very repetitive and boring. This is honestly going to be the worst part of the xpac and considering how much emphasis they’re putting on it doesn’t bode well.

A new class could have carried the xpac but for whatever reason chose not to add one and break their cycle. Class balance will be just as bad as it’s always been and not an excuse for not adding another.

I’m honestly very worried about the future of wow at this point. They really needed a win after bfa and SL doesn’t look like it’s going to make up for it. Sure wow won’t die but it definitely won’t be in a good place after two subpar expansions in a row.

Islands and warfronts are what drew me to BFA, but warfronts turned into a flop, and I guess islands are still fun once in awhile. I just wish they had gear rewards.

You’d think they’d announce all the attention drawing features at the announcement of Shadowlands. So far the only remotely interesting thing is torghast. Covenants seem like NPC ran garrisons.

I mean I still bought it, bit if torghast is on a lockout it’s gonna be so disappointing.

I’ll hold judgment untill the beta, once beta hits that’s the game we will be getting for the most part…If it’s any thing like the dumpster fire of BFA

That’s it for me…

It’s going to have to be to prevent massive burnout and pad the time played metric.

Repetitive, randomized dungeons have never been a fun feature in the games they show up in.

Are lockouts to prevent burnout for our sake or theirs? I’m thinking theirs.
