I posted this on the ptr fourm but I figured this would also be a good place to put it.
Let me start off by saying that I really like every change to Ele that has been made to far. Fulmination is much better than maelstrom, echoing shock is a great edition to the class, having spiritwalkers graces back is amazing, and the overall flow of the class feels better.
However, with the new changes the level 35 tier seems very outdated and the most recent talent changes we had are missing the mark. Master of the elements is basically a bad version of the legendary that is being implemented in Shadowlands, and it doesn’t really serve a purpose when echoing shock is taken. Storm ele is still probably going to be great for m+ when paired with primal elementalist due to its burst damage, but fire ele is crucial for flame shock spreading so beyond dungeons storm ele is pretty meh. Liquid magma has been useless ever since it has been put in the game and many shamans have wanted to see the talent be replaced by something else for a while.
Static discharge seems like an interesting talent on paper, on demand damage without casting or disrupting your rotation. The numbers on it however are terrible. It barely does more damage than earthen rage ( a passive) and in situations where you can cast freely I don’t see how it is better than echo of the elements without some tuning. Also moving elemental blast into the same tier as echoing shock is a bit of a shame because outside of raiding (maybe I’m just guesing) I don’t see why you would take it over echoing shock.
Also it bothers me that we have to choose between stormkeeper and ascendance. In shadowlands some classes are getting their “artifact ability” baseline (ret paladin and ww monk) but instead of doing that for ele they go ahead and give enhance the option to have it.
Personally I feel that on certian talent tiers we have either 0 good choices or 2-3 good ones, so I would prefer if some of the talents were switched around or if we were given new ones.
I know pvp talents haven’t been changed yet for most classes, but I would sooner rather than later like to see what they have planned before it’s to late to maje changes.
