Shadowlands Dilettante needs to be removed from the SL Meta Achievement

Same.

At the very least, they need to put the dailies on a set rotation and not just random.

This one in particular offers no such rewards. In fact, the only ones that seem to have a peripheral benefit (in way of toys, pets and mounts) are the ones tied to Torghast.

So we’re gunna pretend that doing all these steps don’t open up vendors and have other unlocks while you work on it?

Cool

I have the achievement. I missed Veilstrider and the Slimw Cat. by just not killing two bosses in SoD. I wouldn’t care if it were removed. Dailies are one of the most tedious aspects of the game.

Don’t argue with that one under any circumstances.

I didn’t say you were. But again, welcome to expansion wide meta achievements.

There is worse grinds in the game. Honor levels and Insane in the Membrane come to mind.

But I’d consider this an important part of an expansion meta achievement. It makes you really dig deep into what the covenants had to offer.

Also, you’ll survive if it takes you more than a few days to get the new fancy mount.

Shadowlands needs to go and everyone who purchased it should get a refund

It’s going to take me probably an entire other expansion to get that meta. I’ll survive. lol

Oh I will more than survive, I will simply lose the will to even do it and move on. That’s the whole point. It’s so cumbersome it discourages you from even attempting it and that’s objectively bad design. And it’s not a matter of days but rather weeks and potentially even months (and had already completed more than half of it before I quit SL).

These achievements only make sense if you do them during the expansion but this achievement didn’t even exist until the last week, or rather it did but barely anyone cared enough to do it the last time so they brought it back this time with an actual reward attached to it.

Lastly, Shadowlands is a special case. It was a terrible expansion and this particular achievement highlights the worst parts of it. It was also an expansion that saw a mass exodus a little more than half way through and an inordinate amount of long time WoW players, like myself, never even saw the latter parts of it when it was current content.

This achievement could have been a way to redeem the situation somewhat but instead it only dredged up (pun fully intended because I had to do stupid dredger quests today for the Ember Court achievement) all the bad memories and frustrations players had the first time they attempted SL.

Every single zone I’ve been in today, and over the past week that I’ve been working on this achievement, has been filled with players expressing the same concerns I’ve laid out here and expressing relief after finishing an achievement, vowing to never set foot in that particular zone again. I myself purposely chose to finish all the Maw and Torghast achievements first because I hate both of those places with a passion and never wanted to see them again.

These are decidedly not the reactions a person should be having while playing a game that’s supposed to be a fun pastime. Yeah, sure, I can just choose not to do it but that’s not the point. And for the record I specifically chose to focus on this instead of the Plunderstorm nonsense because that’s an even worse experience for me than revisiting the Shadowlands, and that’s saying something!

Nothing about this is fun or enjoyable in any way… this thread was my attempt at trying to advocate for making it a little less of a slog and also an outlet for my frustration or catharsis if you will.

P.S. I am also simultaneously working on finishing up the DF meta achievement and it’s like night and day! I guess it’s a good thing that they seem to have learned from the mistakes of the past but it only makes it that much more frustrating that they didn’t extend that same treatment to the SL meta achievement as well.

So is You Know How to Reach Me for A World Awoken (and I think because of the people working on it for A World Awoken some parts are even harder, the treasure achievements namely, making it so much more tedious). Speaking of treasure achievments, you need those achievements in every zone, and flying around trying to get treasure maps from expedition packs and dirt is tedious too. So it the cobalt rep grind.

They’re supposed to be busy work. Rewars or no, a large majority of achievements in WoW are just busy work. M+, raid, and PvP achievements I would say actually fit the definition of what an achievement should be.

This achievement was a tough grind even when current.

That they made the Venthyr Court DAILY instead of weekly is a MASSIVE improvement. I agree they should put the Abomination dailies on a set rotation as mentioned above, because most of this game’s RNG is just painful.

It was a slog them and it’s a slog now, but being a higher level without some of the timegating should make this go much faster then it did when current.

I think this is being made out to be a way bigger deal than it is.

And yes, I know what goes into it as I did it.

The materials at least for the Kyrian are not hard to obtain. You can literally buy bags of them from the vendor near the NPCs.

I don’t think it’s a big deal. I’m saying it’ll take me that long, because it’s something I’m doing on the side, slowly and not every day. It’ll be what I do when there’s nothing else I have to get done first.

Which is, to me, the point of having metas stick around for later: it gives me something to do during lulls and slowly work towards.

Yes, you played then some didn’t.

What does “achievement” mean again? If you could just give me the definition without me having to do any work looking it up, that would be great…

Even with the nerf to the Ember court, I still can’t bring myself to do it. Frankly I still don’t even understand it and I did a bit of it when it was current.
