Shadowlands Cosmetics Need Modernizing

Can we please modernize the requirements to buy the various Shadowlands transmog items? I would really like to continue to collect and use these pieces, and am even willing to put work towards it, but right now it feels a bit like a never ending battle.

This character became Renown 80 with each of the 4 Covenants, and unlocked all of the various Covenant Specialties all the way to Rank 5/4/3. For those who did not play at the time in Shadowlands, this was easier back then given Shadowlands was not as alt-friendly as modern day WoW. Unfortunately, this character can not buy transmog sets for Cloth, Mail, or Plate wearers (i.e. Court of Night exalted set, Conservatory sets, Path of Ascension). This would mean I would have to do all of this work over again on 3 different characters, in each of the 4 covenants.

Additionally, the Anima cost for all of the gear is outrageous for modern day collection standards (25K for sets, 5K for various pieces of gear).

I understand that this was how it was intentionally designed when it was current content, as the original intention in Shadowlands was one character was stuck to one covenant in the original design. However, times have changed and this is now legacy content. It’s not even considered rare or hard to get, just time consuming, so that shouldn’t be a concern either.

Another point of frustration is the weapon tokens for Castle Nathria. These really should have their class restrictions lifted at this point, as it’s extremely frustrating to try and buy a simple staff.

I’m sorry, but no one wants to spend this much time in Shadowlands to collect all of the gear. It would already take long enough with just one character meeting the requirements due to the anima cost, much less doing it on 4 characters.

Please consider fixing this in a future content update when resources permit!

But this was changed. With Warbands, we got the other armor types for Covenant campaigns finished.

And these changes just went through with 11.0.7:

They actually made the Bronze and Dark tints of the Ascension gear available regardless of class in 11.0.7.

That said, they still need to do the same for the Unity and Stitchyard Necrolord tints, the Court of Night and Conservatory Night Fae tints, and the Mirror Network Venthyr tint. And a few of the Covenant back pieces still have a rep requirement to mog for some reason, despite them doing away with mog rep requirements years ago.

Hopefully they’ll sort the rest of it out in a future patch, but it’s great that we’ve seen some progress on it.

This is why I still say SL trumps WoD in the worst expansion category, or even really any other bad actor at the time of release.

WoW expansions tend with very few exceptions to be grindy hard to go through garbage when they release but have their issues tend to be ironed out once they’re legacy… this is not the case with SL where the biggest issue is just forced engagement metrics like the Oribos travel gimmick which won’t be ironed out by legacy passes.

You don’t outgear these built in wastes of time, can’t just tweak a currency percentage, or make a raid or two here soloable or skippable. It just has some fundamental flaws that are going to need to be deliberately and fundamentally manually altered.

This is only one out of the four covenants. Still a step in the right direction, but unfortunately far from resolved.

Also, this was only for the color tint for the covenant campaign, not the color variants obtained elsewhere (i.e. Court of Night).

I agree that this should be updated. It’s very time consuming and I would rather just not fool with it.

Cosmetically, I think all Void Elves should get that void eye-liner Alleria has.
