Shadowlands: Consolidated Priest Feedback (What does and doesn't work)

Drastic action means unsubbing. You hate it, you unsub. You hate it, don’t preorder Shadowlands. You hate it, you try to reach out over Twitter, civilly. THESE are the drastic actions you take when it comes to an entertainment media.

he want back and rephrased what he said. the guy obviously did not mean to endanger anyone’s life or to promote violence. you guys might be blowing it a bit out of proportions. I think he misspoke and he apologized and went back and edited his post.

what he meant is it will take serious consequences for Blizz to listen to the communities complain.

let’s not go on a witch hunt and crucify someone for misspeaking and apologizing about it.

You DO work for blizzard! You have clear player feedback but are ignoring it because… reasons?

The funny thing is, if he spent less time screwing off in Fenrir’s stomach and looked at the Alpha thread he’d see that we’re far from alone in our dislike of Shadow Priest’s state. He cites 11 likes, yet Xaeli has 44, Vampyral has 107, and so on. Even Preach and Bellular are like “The eff is up with Shadow Priest?”

Maybe because in myth Odin is half-blind, he simply cannot find the thread?

Either way, no skin off my back. I’ve been having a blast with FFXIV and other classes. I’ll give it till June 9th as I said before. But in the interim, maybe this should be the Shadow Priest theme song?

You Know It’s Kind Of Hard To design a Class today,
Our developer’s not good, But He Fakes It Anyway
He May Not Have A Clue; And He May Not Know the Class
But Everything He Lacks, Well He Pulls Out Of His ----?

Another week, another build, no news. Shocking.

The entire class dev team must be totally exhausted after spending weeks deciding to make Phoenix Flames a baseline skill for Fire Mage.

Truly the hardest working devs.

EDIT: All sarcasm aside, I wonder if they are only changing things now that they aren’t planning to “patch up” with borrowed power? Which is very worrying, and sad. Every class has one or more specs that are just laying in shambles.

I submitted a suggestion that Levitate give Priests the ability to double-jump while it’s active. >_>

If that’s the case (and I suspect it to be since being lied to about revamps is par for the course), then your probably best served rerolling. I note that Ascended Bolt generates Insanity now. This tells me that we’ve been lied to about any real changes. That said the 9th is going to be make or break.

After that IDGAF. Even if they turn Priest into an insanely amazing class, I won’t play it because for all I know they only do it to gin up Boosts. I’ve heard from a lot of friends and sources, that the unspoken ‘design intent’ now, is to frustrate players, particularly in classes that normally play smoothly or are otherwise stable.

Supposedly the core desire behind this sort of development is to shake the players up, so that said people are discouraged from developing too great an attachment to their characters, or various classes; and thus have an incentive to reroll or spend money on character services, especially during sales.

The way they’ve behaved since Activision took over seems to reinforce this.

The mage ignite change was absolutely horrible, and blizzard corrected it within a couple of weeks.

Arcane mages brought up how they have way too many buttons to press before being able to start casting damaging spells, and blizz addressed it during a Q and A and said they’d look at it.

Meanwhile, shadow priests have been calling out for help like making SW:V baseline for the better part of 2 years now. Complete dead silence with zero changes except to make StM into a dead talent.

Just face facts guys and gals. Blizzard does not care about shadow. They realize it’s terrible and will be broken on arrival AGAIN, and they’re completely ok with that. It’s time to either reroll a mage (like I have) or let your sub run out.

To be fair, even if blizzard added in what you mentioned, that won’t fix/address the core issue with Shadow Spec right now.

I hope a more indept / major rework is… well is in the works at some level.

As others have mentioned, if we don’t get an update next week concerning the state of Shadow then I think its time to start finding some other class/game to entertain you.

I feel like Shadow might end up getting the same treatment shamans got at the start of BFA when they completely ignored feedback and didn’t make any meaningful changes until like 8.1 or something. I can’t remember exactly when they got the changes but it took a while.

If that’s the case then I wouldn’t expect anything too major, just more band-aid fixes until the next expansion. Or overpowered external powers that carry the spec and people forget how trash it actually is at base level.

I really hope I’m wrong though and that their silence is due to them actually trying to find a solution. But you never really know with this company.

we been getting the same treatment since BFA alpha though. It just continues…

Oh yeah I know, it’s why I stopped playing the class back in Legion. I still level it in hopes of changes but idk anymore. It’s disappointing.

I agree, I almost bought the game for my brother but why bother investing my money if Blizz seems unmotivated to address critical issues.

Thats been Blizz method for a while, boost a troubled spec base dps to still make them playable. I can only speak about myself but a core issues for me is the playstyle not simply the numbers.

I think it has more to do with game play time and logins at the end of an expansion. By working only on a couple of classes the player base of the classes that are left in the mud will have to migrate to the other classes making them either buy a boost and login to gear up or level a character and gear them up, either way they would have to keep playing the game at the end of an expansion. It’s a new model they are pushing to sustain a better population by the end of an expansion.

By the end of an expansion people usually cancel their subscription and wait for the new expansion. this method counters that and forces people to keep playing in preparation for the new one.

that’s my personal take on it.

My priest here was my first character made when I started in Vanilla.
It has not been fun to play since WoD for me. Anytime it has been fun to play, BAM the nerf bat comes.
Priest are bottom tier healers now, discipline is exhausting to play and shadow runs like a 3 legged dog.
According to warcraftrealms it is the least played class next to Shamans.
I keep hoping things will improve but I have given up on the class as a main.

You all know how druids were the only class to have blue updates on their developmental progress? Well, today another class has received the rare honor of dev communication in the alpha.

And it’s none other than… mages.

I just think it’s funny, I really do. I know we all say here that the devs are biased in favor mages and druids, and here they are still demonstrating that bias to this day.

Meanwhile we got Preach to ask a dev specifically about Shadow and we still don’t know anything about what’s going on.

Sigh.

Pallys got one too. it just confirms that there is only one Dev team that works on classes and they are obviously exhausted and focusing only on a couple each expan. By the way, not only Preach has expressed how horrible shadow priest is. LITERALLY everyone who touched it has stated that it’s horrible in alpha.

Voideruption/Voidform still has a dev note saying “working progress”. They barely touched the spec and its almost beta.

No I know it won’t fix the core issue with Shadow. It’s a deeply flawed concept of spec, being held together with duct tape and glue propped up on power systems like azerite essences, traits, and late game gear with highly inflated stats.

I’m saying that during that since Legion, Shadow Priests have been asking for help, reworks, redesigns, etc. But Blizzard can’t even give them something as simple as a QoL change like making Shadow Word: Void baseline.

Let’s see how far along we can get into the developement process before we finally get a blue to address our spec :joy: I have to agree with others and say we’ll be ignored right up until launch. I’d love to be proven wrong though.

You guys want another good laugh? So for the Lols I brought back my Hunter version of Lac which is technically her ‘original’ version in her story. The amount of bugs and crap crawling through anyone who wants to do Argus, Visions or other stuff is outright laughable. They must be eviscerating the game-code every patch now.

Of course this also showcases why they will never offer a paid Class Change.

That would shine a light on their BS excuse for Design when everyone left X or Y class.
This is why they prefer to hold our characters hostage and force people to regrind their reps.

Well guess what? This version of Lac marked the LAST micro-transaction these clowns will ever get. I boosted the character for Shadowlands, and kept it with a Mage as my contingencies for when the inevitable lies started on fixing Shadow. But unlike in the past? I don’t need to pay a damn thing to delete and undelete. I will never pre-order again either. Learned that one with the Eternal Traveller and it’s false advertising.

Blizzard simply does not deserve “good faith”. Not anymore.

Show me with action. Not Words.
