J. Allen Brack, president of Blizzard Entertainment, during the company’s Q1 2020 earnings call revealed the release date for the brand new expansion. Brack mentioned that the eighth expansion, Shadowlands will debut **in November 2020.
He previously thought that it would be impossible to bring the eight expansion due to coronavirus lockdown restriction. The developers reportedly worked from home to prepare the 2020 release. He praised his teams for doing brilliant work in shifting.

Really? That article mentions its source being the quarterly earnings call, which was ages ago…this is old news…Everyone and their mother knew it was coming in November…
Odds were even bigger than that. December would be too close to the holidays, october and beyond would be impossible since it’s still in alpha, and they had to maintain 2020 because of preorders. Some streamers went as far as predicting the actual week of the launch, which would be between nov 17th and 24th…But still, I dont understand the point of the article given that in about a week we will have the exact date of launch, the pre-patch, the beta, etc.
Honestly it’s a lot later than I was hoping, considering many of us are still in some form of quarantine, but I also understand that’s why the release date is in late November.
I’m going to try and feel hopeful about this instead of bummed out. Shadowlands will be so good.
It was always going to release before the end of the fiscal year. They have to put money on the books to ensure investment next year, and the cycle that all large companies follow rolls on.
Cyberpunk 2077 is also coming out the same month as SL.
Burn my money on a game where I know the devs haven’t done anything to fix this game for a whole expansion, or be an epic netrunner in a game made by the same people who made the Witcher.
