Are there any “must-have” Shadowlands battle pets for pet battles, not for achievements, etc? Or, are they just rinse & repeat?
im not quite sure myself you could try having a look at wow based fansites such as warcraft pets or maybe pet b attle guides on wowhead tbh.
I’ve searched the online sources. Plenty of good info on how to capture Shadowlands battle pets but I’ve seen nothing indicating their usefulness in pet battles.
Too new just yet.
I’m just now getting familiar with the ones from 9.1, so I can’t say just yet. We’re only just starting to see the full spectrum of breed options on the newest ones, so it’ll be a minute before I form any preferences.
As to the 9.0 pets, I’m a fan of the ghosts, but few of the others have made it into my PvE battle teams for the WQ battles.
The new purrkins have potential, however, and I just got the Silver and Curious 25’d and rare’d. Will be trying them out this week, and we’ll see.

Vibrant Glimmerfly in Bastion. It’s a flying pet with magic attacks strong against other flyers. Super strong moveset. Probably the best wild/capturable pet in Shadowlands.
Animated Cruor (H/H breed) in Maldraxxus. Very tanky and really strong in some encounters.
Death Seeker (Torghast Twisting Corriders layer 2 reward) is one of only two pets in the game with the ability ‘Murder the Innocent’. Very useful in some strats.
I’m sure there are more but I’ll need to think on it.

I think the “must have” right now should be more areas with battle pets. It’s crazy…I can run around any of the new zones for a good 5-10 minutes before finding a single pet on my map.
I don’t remember previous expansions having the pets scattered so badly and so few.

Yep. Maldraxxus is the only SL zone that I felt was fully populated. The people who designed Maldraxxus really went all-out in every area, and the battle pets are no exception.
I feel this way about all the others in comparison for sure, Haggles.

…about the Vibrant Glimmerfly…from what I see, there’s no pure types (like P/P, H/H, or S/S), so I’m guessing, with the moveset, the best breed would be P/B?
I’m more of a collector than battler, and haven’t really done more except collect the past couple of expansions, so my knowledge is kinda iffy. I’m starting to look a bit more at the breeds, and trying to tune up my stable with better breed options.
And maybe it’s just me, but it really feels like the change of getting a rare pet has dropped a lot the last two expansions. Can go around doing wild pet battles for hours and no see a single rare of any type at all. I hate using up battle stones on wild pets, but it feels like it may be the only option these days.
