Oh no that’s Wowhead’s summary commentary, not the dev.
I always skip over Wowhead commentary because they tend to be generally speaking from Cutting Edge End Game Content mentality.
we could just try not balancing the game around esports tournaments, i think that’s a better plan
I don’t disagree, hell I often wish they would have added a Library district in the capitals or Dalaran where you can collect Lore Books and add them to the collection.
I just think that there is a hella plenty things to discover in the past denizens of the Shadowlands. Especially since it’s hinted that the Maw didn’t used to be such a wasteland.
Oh I see. Sorry for being a bit curt.
Well…
This is sad news. I always spend a bit of time each expansion looking for the toys/mounts/mogs tucked away. Truth be told, collections are my favorite part of the game, even if I’m not the most avid.
Maybe it won’t be necessary, and there will be SO many other awesome things to do we won’t notice it is gone.
You are correct.
Systemlands will have so many systems that you will not have time to play.
I feel like Blizz would remove all professions if they could.
This is a great idea! I wish the devs had shown as much imagination as you do.
I use archaeology to help me sleep when I can’t sleep. To me it’s that boring.
But… fishing isn’t boring! It’s relaxing.
I bet you also hate reading history books, or researching things in general!!!
The nerve! The audacity!
Y’all haters of secondary professions. Smh
How can they trim it anymore? It’s completely neutered and has been for a while.
It started fun and had a lot of potential, but just like most systems put into the game, Blizzard eventually stopped giving it attention.
Well, more often than not, lore “reasons” for something changing in WoW is secondary to some underlying design reason, which is probably the case here.
If they wanted to have archeology in Shadowlands, then the lore would support that, it’s almost certainly that they didn’t/dont want to just keep doing it perpetually every expansion for the sake of it.
I don’t think archeology being perceived as boring, or a lot of players ignoring it, is a huge problem in itself, but fishing already fills that niche in WoW, basically the tedious, repetitive activity unrelated to combat and adventuring that actually turns out to be extremely fun and rewarding for a lot of people, with some cool lore hidden away if you do it a lot.
Archeology is another version of that, but it’s a relatively recent addition, and it doesn’t have the cult appeal that fishing in WoW has developed over the years.
Pandaria sure, but Archeology participation is practially 0% in Legion and BFA, no one cares anymore.
If you ask me, that’s because the rewards are garbage compared to what they started with.
That was due to the quest rotation dynamic for the rares in Legion which was a disaster and a terrible idea.
And I’m actually working on Zandalari archaeology!
Maybe they may add stuff in the .1 or .2 patches, depending on where we go.
I meant “trimming it” in the sense of not adding anything more in the future.
Basically removing it, but getting rid of what’s already there would be a strange choice, and doing that certainly wouldn’t make sense without substantial warning.
So for now they are just not having it in Shadowlands, I guess, pending some future decision.
I just assumed Blizzard forgot about archaeology shortly after they added it
why are all of you so disrespectful D:
does nobody like in-game meta lore history
