Shadowlands: A Look at Cross-Faction Instances

what are you even going on about? The Horde gets treated like trash just about every expansion, we are always the bad guy, furthermore I’d rather they keep the factions separate. Not everyone wants to play with trash players from the other side. “just feels like you’re promoting toxicity, tribalism and divisions that already is too rife in the world today.” This is a god damn Video game. This isnt real. This game was MADE on the ideas of faction vs faction, red vs blue, good vs evil. keep your personal viewpoints on the world out of this game, its not needed

They’ll make less money from faction changes if they implement cross faction guilds.

This is Blizzard we’re talking about. Money is still the only motivating factor in what they do.

That’s not true at all though. Cross faction guilds have been explicitly addressed in multiple developer interviews and in each one they make it clear that this is a starting point and that cross faction guilds are on the table but too risky to do first.

Ion when asked by IGN about cross faction guilds;

“This is a one-way process only…We’re not going to loosen rules, allow social bonds to form or communities to grow, and then suddenly turn them back and say, nevermind, that was a mistake…Technical considerations aside, something like outdoor gameplay would be a mammoth undertaking because of how all of our quests are built. Those considerations aside, we want to be conservative here, but we’re going to be listening to our community, guided by the results of how this experiment plays out and still trying to preserve Alliance and Horde identity, but do so in a way that is harmonious with how the game is played and how our players feel in 2022 and beyond.”

Wowhead byline “Cross-faction guilds are being considered, but the team wants to move slowly in order to avoid having to remove any of these changes later on.”

And they’re right. If the community ends up hating cross faction, they will have destroyed their game in a no-takebacksies change if they jump straight to “okay cross faction guilds are a thing.” If they start with just instanced group, they can walk that back if it goes badly without destroying guilds, which are the core social structure of the game.

I dunno this quote from Ion definitely sounds like they’re planning to not add cross-faction guilds unless enough people constantly complain about it on the forums and content creator videos.

For years they have resisted do anything whatsoever regarding cross-faction, and there’s no way they’re going to voluntarily add any new features unless TONS of people are constantly demanding it

when will glad boxes be back im trying to gear alts faster

Not sure which Ally guild you are playing? I havent ever had an issue. I dont know why people are all asking for CF Guilds… I think what they are adding atm is a good solution and tbh enough. I am not wanting nor looking forward to CF Guilds which I think lorewise make no sense. Thats just me though. =) no hate, just imo.

Hands off our gnomes =P

Will you show the faction in the group finder when people are signing up for your group? It would be very cool if you showed the race as well.

I was thinking the same thing. Seems like a no brainer to just code the entire party to the group leader.

This will allow us Horde better options to invite more Gnomes, so we have more treats in our groups.

Why not allow raid finder and random dungeon finder allow cross faction as well. Shoot even pvp and bgs just make enemy name plates visible. This would. Make queuing much faster and better. Instant queues instant dopamine and new Friendship opportunities. Ik people will disagree but this will happen in the future. Makes too much sense. But bc it makes so much sense blizzard will wait until their game is almost completely dead to do this lol

oh, the erp community is gonna be ALL OVER this!

Players who are <50 cannot use the group finder premade tab at all. It is greyed out, so this is kind of moot for them.

So the only people that will be able to use this new feature are the ones who use the party finder for raiding? Doesn’t it seem like kind of a waste to put a bunch of development resources into something where you’ve already eliminated the bulk of the player-base?

Dungeons, PVP and Torghast also.
The issue with Alliance was virtually no M+ and Raid groups at certain times. This resolves that issue.

I agree they should eventually bring it to queued content too, LFR and BGs.
Although what would that do to queue times? Probably make them super long.

I just read the article and it specifically says that dungeons and pvp are not included.

Well you need to re-read it.

Second paragrpah.

Players will have the ability to find Premade Groups in the Group Finder for dungeons (Normal, Heroic, Mythic, and Mythic+), raids, rated arena/RBGs, and also Torghast. However, the group leader may restrict the listing to same-faction applicants if they choose.

Also a few more paragraphs down:

Upon entering a dungeon, raid, or rated PvP match

What you probably misread was it saying that it will not work for dungeons and BGs via the queue finder.

I wish they’d make it work for random dungeons too. But something like when you’re in Chromie time and then a popup appears “Would you like to expand your search with other non-timeline dungeons?”

Just make the popup say “Would you like to join the inferior Alliance to assist them with their dungeon woes?”
