Trying to get my level 72 Monk to SL. Grabbed the intro quest, Shadowlands: A Chilling Summons, spoke to Darion and chose “Skip to Maw/Oribos Awaits” option, got teleported into Oribos near the SW Portal, had a “stun” affect on me which lasted maybe two secs… And that’s pretty much it.
No NPC (Fatescribe Roh-Tahl, I believe?) appears to offer Covenant choice or anything else. Most of the NPCs are phased out in the entire Oribos including Covenant ambassadors and Darion/Bolvar/Jaina etc…
Is it yet another “bug” introduced with 11.05 or has anyone faced this issue before?
Running into this as well, hopefully they get on this seems like there have been issues around this skip since release. Now that i attempted the skip there’s no way to go back and do it differently. Just trying to farm Undead tome
Reported this multiple times, they say they’re working on it, who knows where this falls on Blizzard’s priority list? I check every day to see if it’s fixed.
If youre willing, do the intro quest chain up to “The Eternal City” and head straight for the inn, if you see a chat bubble in the back area then there is a chance to start Threads of Fate. This came up for my Dracthyr Hunter in the first week of 11.0.5 so its still possible. I was however level 60 and in chromie time.
Since I used the skip option with the intro quest, given by Darion in SW Keep, there’s literally nowhere to go now. Can’t get any other quest, it’s a dead end.
yeah according to all the things you have to be level 60 to see it now. If you go above 60 then you cannot see it. As ATT tracks the quest under ‘breadcrumbs’.
If you’ve been to Shadowlands before on another character, the Flight Paths should be already unlocked. Try flying to Bastion and see if the starter quest is available at Aspirant’s Rest.
Lastly I have one final suggestion, I don’t know if this will work though. If you have access to Oribos, train in Shadowlands Engineering, and use Wormhole: Shadowlands toy, select Bastion and see if any quests are available in the zone.
Don’t try any other zone they will be completely empty, you can explore but no NPCs will be around, I checked around Revendreth as I was curious while in the middle of the campaign. I even got stuck on the bottom floor of Sinfall castle as there are no mirror portals back up and the doors are shut; jumping down the pit was the only escape as you respawn outside.
ALL the important and functional NPCs are phased out. That includes not only quest givers and Covenant ambassadors as mentioned above, but also Flight Master.
I even tried to jump into the maw to see if I will get any part of intro quest there, but jumping in that maw hole pulls me back up and the usual two seconds “stun”. Only one of the four portal pads (that take you to upper/lower levels) are working too. And I “land” on that one pad every time I try to jump into maw.
Strangely enough, Genn Greymane is still there offering “Eyes of the Wolf” quest and running around Oribos I found Jaina standing at the edge of out ring (30,31 cords) with “Stay awhile and listen” dialoge option. Talking to her brings Khadgar and the cutscene plays where they talk about catching up and stuff.
It’s a whole pile of big mess by the looks of it. Broken in more ways than I can think of. And yes, I have tried to log in/out, porting back and forth to SW and even logging out while in SW to see if anything triggers the Covenant choices NPC appearing but no luck.
Okay I just got my Dracthyr Warrior (level 60) to Shadowlands and the Maw Skip went flawlessly, but I didn’t get the next quest “Stranger in an Even Stranger Land” right off the bat. I had to go back to stormwind, have Chromie change my timeline to something else, and then back to Shadowlands to trigger the quest. I ran straight to the back of the Inn and got Threads of Fate without incident.
I know this doesn’t help anyone who is level 70+ but for those who are still 60-69, hopefully this workaround does it for you.
I never encountered any bugs since they “got rid of it” when Dragonflight launched. Until 11.0.5 dropped anyway As long as you were level 60+ and had not done anything in relation to the shadowlands on that character prior (that includes learning the flight points from the toy) you were able to get access to Threads of Fate.
11.0.5 broke that by making it so that the Fatescribe guy had no further dialogue options once you finished the maw. So you were stuck. Blizzard then removed him approaching you but then broke Shadowlands questing altogether. Until Jerauld spoke about the workaround. But that only works for level 60’s if you want to get access to Threads of Fate. If you are above 60 you are locked into the main campaign. For now anyway.
Oh for sure it’s more broken now than ever - but when they removed the Threads of Fate level up option, given the way they removed it and where the ONLY skip was placed, many players including myself ended up with characters that could not skip.
So for me, fully fixing the skip would involve putting the ‘skip it’ option on Fatescribe (or any NPC) available in any phase or location regardless of whether or not the character ever went to SL or completed anything, not just the initial intro chain and not restricted to only characters that never set foot in SL.
I don’t doubt they will fix whatever went wrong that seems to phase players to a version of Orbos without the NPCs and quests unless and only if they are level 60, but I highly doubt they care at all about fixing the idiotic and highly limited way they implemented the skip in the first place, the way that locks some characters from ever being able to pick a covenent without doing the whole stupid level up campaign.
At least those characters have access to the FPs, the maw, and can access most of SL (though they can’t open the portals to areas like ZM).
