Devouring Plague costs a lot of mana?
Its a variable that exists and there will be many players who just forget to smack that button, it happens. Im sure there are plenty of people that use it correctly. There is also a cooldown associated with this racial so the second but less potent round of CC can and will happen.
i’d go UD. but Dwarf Stoneform is nice.
It costs an astronomical amount of mana.
The classes that fear you aren’t even the classes that counter you though. 3 min cd fear break? Or a 30 second cd fear immune with a 10 minute duration plus stoneform and a free 1/3 health instant cast heal. Dwarf for life.
And honestly I think if I was minmaxing pvp Horde I would go troll for the blackout stuns. But I would still roll UD specifically because they are the best model for shadow priests hands down
Incorrect. Shadowguard procs from harmful spells, ranged and melee attacks.
There’s no denying shadowguard is better than devouring plague. DP can be removed, it has a massive mana cost and a 3 minute cooldown.
Shadowguard has no cooldown, costs less mana, can potentially deal more damage, has 3 chances per cast to proc blackout (3 sec stun). Also, I believe it scales better with spell power. If I’m correct about that then it can really deal more damage.
If you keep shadowguard up then that’s a chance to proc blackout every ~2 seconds vs devouring plague having one chance every 3 minutes.
You can say WotF is better than troll berserking. But you can’t say devouring plague is better than shadowguard. It’s not. It just is not.
Dwarves make good priests. They do not make good shadow priests. Fear Ward is not usable in shadow form.
But those spells give you one proc chance at the cost of a global. Shadowguard gives you 3 proc chances at the cost of a global.
Shadowguard is the best priest spell in the game for blackout procs. No contest.
If you are staying in shadow form as a pvp shadow priest, you are a bad shadow priest
I’m just saying there will be times where it’s beneficial to stay in shadow form but you also need to cast fear ward. It’ll cost a lot of Mana to pop in and out of shadow form and that’s a real problem in long battles.
Against classes that are going to fear you it’s almost always better to start the fight out of shadow form and stay out. The armor isn’t going to be needed and you are going to want to cast your healing spells, the 15% extra damage is nothing compared to healing and utility.
Sure, in a perfect world. But you never know what’s going to be thrown at you in WPvP or in Battlegrounds. You’re not always going to be in a perfect situation. Often you’ll need to compromise.
I mean it’s really not hard. Fear ward is a 10 minute buff. Always keep it up. If a warlock starts fighting you in the world fear ward should be on you already and more than likely off cooldown. Start your standard fight rotation and if you see him casting fear and starting another then you should have a macro that drops shadowform and casts fear ward and reapply.
This isn’t really a perfect world situation this is just knowing how to pvp and what to do against certain classes.
All I’m saying is there will be situations where fear ward forces you to pop out of and back into shadow form. And those situations won’t be all that uncommon. All you need is a battle that last more than 30 seconds and some melee on you and you have a recipe for blowing mana to get off a fear ward.
Ya that’s what you aren’t getting though. In no situation would you need to go back into shadow form if you have to pop out to re apply fear ward. Once you are out you should stay out unless you get off a really good fear and have loads of mana. If you are knowingly going into shadow form when you are having mana issues that’s bad.
The real factor here is that trolls are by far the ugliest race in the game, while undead or arguably the best looking race in the game, particularly in Shadowform.
And everyone knows that looking good adds at least 15% more damage.
Also, I’d heavily dispute this… If a Warlock ever loses to a shadow, the warlock didn’t know what he was doing. Between Spell stone, Shadow Ward, Curse of Tongues, dots with drain life, drain mana, single target fear, and either Succubus or Felhunter… The lock should have the advantage.
Troll shadowguard blends perfectly with shadowform. Three shadow orbs circling you.
But you still look like a gangly uncordinated weirdo with terrible posture.
Trolls have the best posture and look great with engineer goggles
I forgot the Forsaken are known for their amazing posture.
