ShadowFury Needs to be Instant Cast

Every other class has an instant stun, why does the worst pvp class in the game have to cast their only stun?

That’s all…

Because years ago Blizzard decided that shadowfury should be a timed cast and since then they have stubbornly stuck by their decision despite the fact that it doesn’t make sense anymore.

Yeah. It’s already a 2 click ability that you have to position.

I mean, [@cursor] macros are a thing. No ground-target ability is necessarily a 2-click ability anymore.

Shadowfury was, for a very long time, a Destro only talent. Then a Destro only ability. That is when it was instant. Imho only Destro should have this and it should be instant.

Aff should not have this and should again have Howl of Terror, which I would also put in the Demo toolkit.

Replace “Darkfury” talent with something like “Fel Infusion: reduces the CD on Shadowfury/Howl of Terror by 25%.”

Problem fixed.

I second this.

doesn’t change the fact that it is, as written in the game, a 2 click ability that shouldn’t be. But thanks for the suggestion. I have never played around with macros in this game.

Ew, I’d much rather have an AoE stun than an AoE fear. I’m not sure how the two compare in PvP (though I’m pretty sure Howl was on the same DR as Fear back then), but in PvE Howl was uniformly worthless, while Shadowfury is insanely powerful (they removed a fair chunk of the AoE stuns in BfA).

I mean, I get it, rose-tinted glasses and all that, but even in the name of spec flavor (which is questionable anyway, it is called Shadow fury) I wouldn’t be a fan of that change.

For the record, there’s also [@player]. Same mechanism of action, just instantly casts it instead of giving you the reticle, but while [@cursor] casts it where your cursor is, [@player] casts it at your player’s current location, effectively turning it into a PBAoE.

I can’t even use Shadowfury in PvP because I just get kicked. The whole point of an AoE stun is to use it when multiple people are attacking you. However, if multiple people are attacking you, at least one will have a kick, making this completely useless.

Affliction is the only spec in the game without a single baseline snare or instant cast CC, which is one of the reasons it’s so weak right now. Demonology has Axe toss and Destruction has Summon Infernal.

Shadow priests and boomkins have 2-3 instant cast CC on separate DR as well as spammable CC (mind control and cyclone). It’s not fair the warlock toolkit is so empty/pruned compared to similar specs.

Locks should have either a baseline instant cast CC ability (shadowfury, coil or howl), or make Demonic Circle baseline so we can spec into Mortal Coil. Add Howl of terror to where Demonic Circle was in the talent tree and change the Darkfury talent to make shadowufury an instant cast. That way, we have the chance to pick which form of instant CC we want, based on our playstyle or the comp we are playing. (Similar to how spriest/boomkins are now)

Warlock toolkits need to be brought back up to par with those of other classes.

See, this is one reason I’m so confused they they didn’t just roll in a weaker version of Sacrolash into Corruption baseline, like they rolled Contagion into UA. Like, adding a 30% snare to Corruption baseline would have been perfectly fine. It’s not excessive, and there are tons of passive or baked-into-the-base-rotation snares already in the game (Mind Flay, Crippling Poison, Rake (Infected Wounds), and literally all of Frost’s toolkit come to mind). <shakes head>

I mean, ya, it was OP as hell on Eonar, but that was at 60%, and because of the nature of that fight, something we’re extremely unlikely to run into again any time soon.

Use Unending Resolve to prevent being kicked while casting Shadowfury. This isn’t a super great solution because of the cooldown and how fast-paced PvP can be, but yeah.

I feel like using your only DR cooldown, on a 180s CD, is a bit overkill for getting off an uninterrupted Shadowfury.

I doubt they’ll make it instant, but cmon at least make this do some damage if your gonna give it a painfully long cast time

I agree, it would be nifty to see it do a little damage
