Hello Blizzard,
I was wondering if you would be so kind as to up the drop rate for Shadowfrost Shards, which are required for the quest The Splintered Throne? I understand the past time frame and effort put into it. But… With current times and Shadowlands right around the corner. This content/quest would benefit greatly by an increased drop rate for said quest items.
I would like, rather, hope to see a 100% chance drop for one shard from each boss up to 10 Shadowfrost Shards per run. That would still give us the feeling of time and effort invested into acquiring this rather nifty looking legendary axe, while also making it slightly less of a tedious effort for max level characters.
Running old world content is still very much a fun thing for me to do in game. I believe making some of the requirements for very old items slightly less tedious would be a nice benefit to the game for all. Thank you for reading this, I hope we can work together and make this wonderful/needed change for all.

it took me about 2-3 weeks to get that finished its not that bad

I must have been unlucky this run. I only got 5 shards on heroic 25 man.

Well… I did heroic 25 and got 5… so your minimum of 7-9 is in fact… incorrect.

The min you could get is 0 if it’s a 75% CHANCE drop rate.

Mate, you need 50 shards and even if you dropped one EVERY boss, you wouldnt finish the quest. So… you lying hard af

Literally just got 1 on an entire run. From the Gunship battle. Big GGs. 5 has been my max so far on 3 runs.
Only getting about 2-3 per week for the last 6 weeks ;/

ICC has 13 bosses. Even with 100% (which it obviously isn’t) you would need 4 weeks on that stage alone.

I feel you, ive had 4 runs where ive only gotten 3 shards on heroic. Its ridiculous.

The fragments are dropped by bosses, or their chests, in Icecrown Citadel on 25-player normal and heroic difficulty only. The drop rate is approximately 25-50% for normal mode bosses and 51-99% for Heroic mode bosses
Good lord, let this thread die already! I mean, it’s poetic that a thread about Icecrown Citadel, home of the Lich King, is being necro’d five times now, but surely that’s enough!
since end bosses are 100% drop rare, them min is 5 buddy.

I can confirm, I went from 16 to 24 in 1 run.
Sorry to necro this yet again, but I have three consecutive weeks now of getting 3 shards. It’s ridiculous. I get RNG is a thing, but the idea that they are 50-99% on heroic seems unlikely, and the last boss being 100% is simply not true. Whatever they did, whether an intentional nerf or a bug, the drop rate now is abysmal. I’ve completed 12 Shadowmournes already, so this isn’t my first trip through this grind.
This week only three. Among many other bosses… Saurfang, Blood Queen & Sindragosa didn’t drop shards.
