Let’s talk about Shadow and Void forms. /concerned.
ps: PTR experiences only – no beta access yet.

The new Shadowpriest reworks looks great and feels good. Its a step in the right direction but it’s far from complete. I fear that this void form design is holding it back and will cause its downfall once again.

  • Summary: Voidform should be removed completely from shadow spec.

Now I feel for those who loved the Voidform playstyle. I honestly feel like blizzards should take accountability for their actions and just give the priest a fourth spec called VOID. This will honestly allow them to fully create the vision of what this spec could have and should have truly been.

  • Summary: Make Voidform a Priest fourth spec

Idea: If it’s too late for this expac, a good idea for the next expac is to do a class-wide “4th spec” Unlock. So no new class still, but every class unlocks a new power, a new spec basically. And this will allow the priest to have – Disc, holy, shadow, and void.

  • Summary: Next Expac theme it around unlocking new power ( 4th spec)

    • Hunter (old survival spec), Priest (void spec), Mage (new element spec – lighting, water, or air), Warlock (maybe a demonic healing spec :o), etc you get the gist.

Thoughts So far in ptr:

  • Shadowmend should go back to flash heal. its hard enough to deal with enemies with our low mobility, but getting easily spell locked out is not fun every time…

  • Wish Shadow word death had some glowing mechanic on the screen when the enemy is within the 20% range.

  • As stated above, 50 talent row should be removed completely and replaced.

  • Vamperic Embrace… this talent, to me, was better when it was a permanent buff, not this cd form we have now. Fits better with what old shadow used to be like.

  • I miss the old mind blast sound and power… Feels so meh to use.

Since no beta access, i can’t really give feedback on strength of the spec. PTR right now is really crazy in general TBH lol.

I absolutely love your fourth spec idea. I have a friend whose been begging for the last 3 xpacks for them to bring necromancer into the game. That could totally be warlock 4th spec. As far as what you highlighted about shadow I’m in complete agreement!

Oh yeah! i’ve forgotten all about necromancy lol. Would be very nice to give them this since tons of players wanted this during WOTLK Era. I recall that being a hot topic throughout wrath.

And yes,

I think this would be a respectful solution for Voidform and shadowform.
as well as for the old Survival hunter and New Survival hunter. And any other class that has went through something similar really. Or rather “Dark Ranger” spec for hunters (wink).

A fourth spec would be an amazing addition fore everyone :]. Just imagine the potential this will give to an expansion. Instead of focusing on borrowed power, its now focusing on a new class power!

dks are a hybrid version of necros. not a true necro class. there was a huge heated debate of this during wotlk time.

True necromancer or rather any spirit mancy class will never engage in melee combat,

yes but necromancy is their spec theme. blizzard never does anything normal, why would they do a normal necromancer. instead you get to be an undead commander fighting alongside the corpses you raise to fight for you.

If they did make a necromancer, what would be unholy’s theme? diseases are an overall class theme for DK but what would they get that is specific to unholy?

Thats argueable. They do normal things all the time.

Cash shops, repetitive grind, Mages ( the most normal of all classes), etc. I can go on.

Dk is a hybrid class. This doesn’t mean its good or bad. It is what is is. Its a paladin with warlock mixed in, which = DeathKnight. A true necromancer class will still feel completely different.

Btw – Necromancers are known as: Spirit masters,Spiritual Mediums, summoners, and even Occultist are another term for them. These are people who are able to command the dead, elemetnals, talk to & command spirits, demons, parasitic entities, guardian deity, and so on, to do their bidding.

These are all true pet caster classes. If someone wants to command armies of pets / creatures to fight for them, then “Necro are one sub class of this spectrum.”
Blizzard was just able to make their own Unique SUBCLASS of this spectrum – Deathknights. Again, it doesn’t mean is good or bad… it just is what it is.

Same goes for Witches. Witches can be as follow: Mages – one element focus or all, druids, mystics, healers, dark & light magic, etc. Every caster subclass can originate form Witches.
Warlocks – are just witches. In real terms, a warlock is a witch that has been exiled from their circle. So they are basically the same thing. Blizzard just focused them on one subclass – demonic / chaos magic.

I suggest focus an expansion on unlocking for all classes a new SPEC–4th spec.
