So one of the problems I’ve had with locks for a while now is the filler spells shadowbolt and incinerate, both look really weak. They don’t look at all intimidating or really even effective. I’d go so far as to say the shadowbolt spell now more closely resembles a spell shadowpriests would cast. Not so long ago, the spell was a shadow formed skull that looked amazing, iconic and super effective. Reminds me of the old intro for MK: Deadly Alliance where Quan Chi throws the fel looking skull at scorpion in the intro cinematic. Badass.
Incinerate also got the disrespect. Back in the day, Incinerate was a wide, creeping swath of flame that would serpentine its way to its prey. Now it’s this lame little ember that kinda 'poof’s its way to the target.
I feel like if I were a kobold, I’d rather get hit by new incinerate than a warrior’s heroic throw.
So all that being said, I’d really like glyphs for the old animations. It’d be cool to see that expand to other classes too.
I’m bummed that they eliminated SB from afflock. SB nightfall probs on the move were the best. I had hoped they were coming back. a faster channeled spell still requires the toon to be stationary.
I mean… Shadowbolt should always look like something Shadow Priest would cast lol.
But yes, I do miss the old Skull visual.
As for incinerate, I agree. I love the vibrance of the new version but the old zig-zag fire coming at you was cool.
For me though the biggest offender is Chaos Bolt. I miss my weird Dragon-head thing.
You can run this build in TWW with the Soul Harvester tree and spec into Improved SB, not Drain Soul. It’s actually pretty fun. Soul Harvester got overshadowed by Diabolist and Hellcaller but it’s a great Hero Power.
Also Drain Soul + SB Volleys casting while channeling is visually fun too.
