Shadow Word: Pain Haste Question

Is there any information (or does anyone know) exactly what haste % increases the ticks from SW:P? With gear scaling and % increases I’ve found that haste stacking (exclusively for M+ and certain PvP environments) is far superior to balancing haste/crit. While this does not include raiding (where crit is favored above all else), I was hoping to find out at what % SW:P ticks, and what the ticks increase at.

Also, Epstein didn’t kill himself and delete void-form.

There are no breakpoints when new ticks are added to a DoT, they’ve been gone since WoD.

Each point of haste reduces the tickrate. The final tick (which always happens at 16 seconds, but ideally shouldn’t happen if you properly refresh) will deal a fraction of the damage of a full tick depending on the time elapsed since the second to last tick.

Going to have to say that’s inaccurate.

I have included baseline stat breakpoints (keep in mind this is NOT to <1%) for SPriest…keep in mind all of these are quickly overshadowed by procs from vita, neck major/minors, and void-form.

19% (+19.51%) haste
VT = 1.3 second cast
MB = 1.3 second cast
SW:P 11 hits per cast

20% (+20.34%) haste
VT = 1.3 second cast
MB = 1.3 second cast
SW:P 11 hits per cast

25% haste
VT = 1.2 second cast
MB = 1.2 second cast
SW:P 11 hits per cast

28% haste
VT = 1.2 second cast
MB = 1.2 second cast
SW:P 12 hits per cast

31% haste
VT = 1.1 second cast
MB = 1.1 second cast
SW:P 12 hits per cast

38% haste
VT = 1.1 second cast
MB = 1.1 second cast
SW:P 13 hits per cast

43% haste
VT = 1 second cast
MB = 1 second cast
SW:P 13 hits per cast

It’s very much not. Haste’s interaction with dot damage via tick rate is no longer in steps or breakpoints, it’s pretty much linear.

Also just think how any of your math or conclusions could possibly make sense for a spec that spends a majority of its time due to voidform and LI at 80%+ haste

Could you please put this part in layman’s terms?

The amount of damage a dot does scales linearly with haste, instead of in “jumps” as it did from Wrath to MoP. There are no breakpoints anymore.

That’s not so much layman’s terms as what all of this means for the player.

AHHHH thanks, was confusing the “jump” terminology as referring to the ticks of damage within a DoT and not the haste benefit itself. So it’s just straight up better now to not have to worry about being just under a breakpoint based on your gear. Good stuff.
