I main spec holy because it is meta and i really do enjoy it. But, i wanted to try shadow for solo content and to just get to ocasionally go as dmg in keys . Anyway, i went with the preffered necro covent ( wow head) and let here rip.
I wanted to ask some of the other priest if they can honestly say this spec is worthwhile ? It seems between the covenant abilities and core ablites you have so much do before you can even consider having fun or doing decent dmg. I also run kyrian as Holy and having to swap covenants between specs all the time tends to he pain as well … what are you guys doing?
For quests, Shadow is just fine, even enjoyable (imo).
Shadow has some of the most complicated aoe in keys, and its aoe is not especially effective (although it is “serviceable”). So if you need something both simple and effective in keys, shadow is not going to be your jam.
Of course, Shadow is viable. But you’ll find other classes/specs are both easier to play and more effective in simple throughput terms.
Shadow’s real strength is in its sustained single-target damage, its dispels, and self-healing. So it’s better in raids than keys.
I’m just hating how short of a cast time Mindsear is, makes using Searing Nightmare an absolute pain in the a-z-z. It should channel for much longer.
Try it. If you find it fun, play it. Don’t chase meta. This kind of mindset for the average player needs to go.
Imo, it’s more complicated than it should be. AOE is boring af and it weakens SFP. Too many buttons to push imo makes it feel clunky. VFs cd is was too long to begin with…but then if you want the most out of it, you’ll hold it another 30 seconds to be able to pop all your other cds with it. In BfA and legion you’d spend maybe 10 seconds tops in between VFs. It’s does pretty awesome ST dmg though and the fantasy behind em is right up my alley, but I think the rework for SL is pretty boo. I’d give anything to have the Legion design back.
