Shadow Single Target Filler Question

Hey All! I decided to make a change for DF and will most likely be playing my SPriest as my main this time after playing a Shaman main since BC.

I have run a few normal and heroic dungeons, and I’m getting the hang of the changes I think, but I have a couple of questions regarding our Single Target filler spells. Assuming I use the recommended ST build including Mind Spike, Surge of Darkness, MF: Insanity, and both Y’shaarj and C’thun:

  1. Should I be hard casting Mind Spike as filler, or using Mind Flay (not including MF:Insanity procs)
  2. Should I interrupt standard Mind Flay to for Mind Spike/SOD procs?
  3. If yes to the above, do I interrupt MF: Insanity for procs, or wait for it to finish?

My assumption based on reading the talents is channel MF, and only interrupt regular MF for Mind Spike procs, but to let MF:I fully channel. Is this correct?

If you have mind melt…you spam spike.
of you dont…only surge and spike then use only procs…
it depends on your build.

Okay, so with Mind Melt just spam Mind Spike as filler, only using Mind Flay after DP?

If you’re using the recommended single target build, the only time you’re casting mind spike is when you have to move and you need to fill a global. If you’re standing still, you’re not pressing mind spike

You have multiple talents that tell you mind flay is your filler, most notably the “dots tick 80% faster”

See, that’s what I expected given Screams of the Void and C’thun, but the recommended build also includes Mind Melt, which is what was confusing me.

Recomended build doesnt have mind melt. It would be waste of talent with cthun and screams…as i said it depends on your talents.

I really gotta stop listening to Icy-Veins…

Go to the priest discord. Publik is on top of things and has everything listed

There are two generally recommended builds. One is running screams + cthun and uses flay as its main filler and only spikes with surge procs.

The other is using yogg + void torrent and takes mind melt to get to void torrent and ends up using spike as its main filler because of having mind melt and no screams.

Some things to note.

  • The screams cthun build is more sustained dps, the yogg void torrent one is more burst. Currently we expect both to see play in raids depending on the encounter.
  • Screams is STILL bugged on live servers, meaning this build is significantly hampered until blizzard fix it (Still good enough for AoE though).

Icy veins is maintained by Publik.
