I see lots of posts regarding spriests and how OP they are and in pvp I agree. However in PVE they seem weak to me. Why is it not possible for Blizzard to apply changes to classes that only apply to pvp activity and not pve. Maybe I am just playing the class wrong lol.
Anyway here are a few suggested changes I would make to improve a little on them:
Remove our dots from the GCD… Stopping to apply them causes our dps basically stop and then ramp up from there. Shadow priests have 4 dots to maintain and each is a GCD and results in slower dps.
Allow a small percentage of procs from Mind Spike or Mind Flay to give us a instant cast Mind Blast
Increase the damage of Mind Spike
Give Devouring Plague to all races not just the undead

You should really not complain about spriest in pve. Middle of the pack, the gap from grey parse to rank #1 is like 25 points. It can’t get better. I now suggest spriest over hunter for noobs. It’s noob proof, and safe from nerfs that change the playstyle.

SP is one of the lowest PVE dps of all specs. They’re only strong in 1v1 pvp and terrible in group pvp
Well we know who NOT to listen to

you are the lowest of all classes when compared to each’s best dps spec
only MM frost and arcane are below you
when you look at each class from the perspective of their top dps spec
- Shaman
- Warlock
- Mage
- Hunter
- Warrior
- Paladin
- Druid
- Rogue
- Priest

Am I missing something? I feel like Devouring Plague sucks in PvE
They would have to make something mechanically change with shadow to push them near the top without making them broken in PvP again. Something like a full cast of mindflay empowers the next mind blast.
Shadow Priest is like a cheat code in PVE because of VE alone. I think their damage is perfect right now in light of their off healing and utility.

what this guy says. same goes for other classes.
our issue is low hp totals at this point in the game.
anyone who has twinked will tell you that some classes just break these early levels.
They’re giving them surrender to madness p3. It’s fixed.

You’re middle of the pack, and get surrender to madness next phase. Seems good to me - someone who mythic raided shadow priest.

Well if blizzard is actually reading these posts I hope they remove a few of our dots form the GCD. VE, SwP, VP, and Homonicle all have a uptime to cast and that removes casting time.
Mind Flay is a classic spell that we don’t even cast anymore because of the spell expense and its low output.
Never say never but I doubt that would ever happen. That’s one of the downsides of a DoT Class and it’s one of the attractions of the Shared Pain rune.
Maybe I’ve played DoT classes so much for so long I don’t even notice the GCD even in Classic with no Haste.

With how strong healing Priests are, Gnomer groups desire at least 1 Priest. But some people may not be happy with you taking a Priest slot. If you raid as Shadow, prepare to have some… friction with others.
While I agree with you I reply with this, Raiding a priest a disc or holy requires them to choose between homonicle and Prayer of Mending. PoM is bis for healing easily. Homonicle is bis for melee… esp in gnomer. Spriests normally handle the Homonicles
Yeah no, that isn’t happening lol.
The only thing I could think of to make it so spriests are better in PVE, but not oppressive in PVP is something along the lines of completely removing void plague then replacing it with something else and making it so twisted faith applies to mind spike as well. Then make it so mind spike does something like applies a percentage increase to crit damage for mind spike and mind blast when shadow weaving is at 5 stacks.
Void plague is obviously OP for pvp, but pretty meh in pve. Adding an increase to crit damage and not just crit % on MB doesn’t seem like it would be overly bad in pvp because that means we’re primarily sitting back hard casting on someone for a huge burst still and needing 5 stacks of shadow weaving would make it so it’s still a wind up.
If they nerf VP tomorrow that will force use to switch our chest rune to Twisted Faith thus nerfing PVE damage further. If they do this I think they may buff the damage of Mind Spike which I think they should do anyway.
They need to find a way to buff mind flay. Either a new rune all together or move twisted faith to the head slot (then nerf it a bit since you’d be able to have void plague and twisted faith at the same time).
When was surrender to madness confirmed? Whattt
