Do you think this will help us at all up our DPS, or are we still going to get screwed over by our mana issues?
They have been pretty good on adding spells that have high spell power coeffs. Dam. + low mana cost. This is kinda huge especially if it doesnt remove dots and might out filler mind flay who knows. I am excited from a pvp aspect because it gives shadow another school to cast if locked on shadow.
I really hope it doesn’t replace Mind Flay, I don’t know but if I wanted to spam one button every 1.5-2 seconds I would just play a mage or a warlock.
Mind spike will accomplish only one thing. It’ll make priests that much better in the 1v1 for PvP. It will have zero effect on PvE. Unless they make it starsurge levels of mana cost, then maybe. Mindflay was already the cheap filler spell. I don’t see them making this one cheap. Other problem is Mind Blast is a threat hog. If you’re using this in PvE and getting mostly crit Mind blasts, that’ll be a pain to manage threat.
I will almost certainly replace Mind Flay let’s be real.

Shadow Priest is looking like it’s gonna be S Tier in PvP next phase…but still a meme in PvE.

Fun part about Mind Spike is that it does Shadowfrost damage which means it gains benefits from Winter’s Chill as well as Shadow Vuln and will scale with Curse of Elements.

Classic Shadow Priests have always been amazing Duelist and great in solo BG’s but awful in PvE, so nothing new here I guess
Yeah I know, I was just hoping Priest could actually be a contender in PvE this time with all the changes.
I mean we still haven’t seen ALL the runes…but I feel like i’m just huffing copium now.

Spriest just needs fiend and VT to make it all come together. Giving rets and shamans the mana regen runes was the wrong play. Void plague should’ve been VT.

Still going to have mana issues.
Shocking they don’t just add TBC’s version of Vampiric Touch as a rune. Maybe even make it return more mana.
But maybe they have and we just don’t know about it yet.

Mind Spike will do Shadowfrost damage. That means it scales off Curse of Elements and it scales off Winter’s Chill. This is actually pretty juicy. It also means that Shadow Priests can benefit from high frost SP gear where appropriate.

Couldn’t agree more, giving Shadow Priest’s main selling point to other classes was not the right decision. I feel like Shadow Priest could do fine DPS if they gave VT and the ability for DoT to crit they might have just been fine. Side note, they could have just baked what Mind Spike does into Mind Flay. Ie. Every cast of Mind Flay increases the Crit Chance of Mind Blast or Ticks of Mind Flay has an X% chance to increase Mind Blast’s Crit Chance.
I love VP so much. Void Plague paired with VE and VT would be a sight to see though. Plus extra Blackout procs and amazing PvP. Shared Pain shoulda have been VT I reckon
