I was not aware of this. I’ve been gone a long time. I just play to max level and do dungeons with my rogue or maybe LFR. I get bored easily. Fortunately, I’ve been working to level all my classes to 60 but get them to 50. I have Monk and Priest left. When I played the priest I noticed there is no healing spell. I find myself dying a lot with no heals. Come on seriously. Every class has a healing ability except for the Shadow Priest. I didn’t care if I went out of shadow form to heal back in the days. To completely remove a healing spell on a priest is insane.
I forgot that one ability that returns 50% of HP based on damage. Well, that doesn’t work at all. I get ZERO heals from it. I will never EVER touch my priest again and she will remain level 42 for life until she is given her holy abilities back.
Don’t you have shadow mend? But yeah shadow priests are squishy which is why I leveled mine as holy or disc.

I’ll think about that after all my classes hit 60. This really annoyed me. It’s in nature to have healing spells as shadow. It’s a priest class. I don’t know if they did it for PVP reasons.

Shadow has Shadow Mend(which you realize). Vampiric Embrace can be really helpful too. And you can talent so that Dispersion heals you.
Makes leveling a lot easier, especially the Dispersion heal, given that Shadow Priests can only use Shadow Mend 4-5 times before being out of mana. Additionally, if your priest is high enough to have the Mindbender talent, use that. Paired with Fade, you basically have a psuedo tank for a bit.
The idea in Shadow I guess is to kill things fast before they kill you.
Mages can do it, so can Shadow Priest. The Shadow spec is the dps spec of Priests and it just doesnt have anything thats direct heals as Disc and Holy does. Take healing pots, check out your talents and see what helps you the most - and learn to hit hard and run away when that doesnt work.
…You have an ability called Shadow Mend. It heals you. You have dispersion, and if you talent it with Intagibility, it also heals you. Basic reading.

You can die as a show priest? I leveled mine without breaking a sweat. But I cast PW:S as fast as it will let me for the movement bonus alone. and a couple mends can top you off real fast.
My mage however… THAT has me pulling hair out.
Vampiric Embrace, Vampiric Touch and Devouring Plague also all heal you
They self-heal with vampiric embrace, vampiric touch, and get shadow mend to cast on themselves or others. Shadow priests are more of a support class than anything else. They heal themselves and the group with their damage dealing abilities. If you really want to see them shine, then go into PvP. They apply great pressure on the enemy team as well.
And if NL, that bone shield is nice. But yeah, you basically live off your shields and drains and need to burn things quickly. Out of combat, shadow mend has no penalty. In combat its got a toll.
of course you can if you pull big enough, or pull multiple mobs that can fear/stun. but yeah, we’re fairly tanky as dates casters go.
I assume it’s already been said, but, they can heal, just not all that well. There was a great old talent or perk or something that turned shadow mend into a hot instead of a heal+dot (like wtf blizz do you just hate shadow or something?). I’ve retired all of mine since early BfA because playing them always feels like ice skating uphill.
Think about it. No other hybrid dps has a self-heal with a drawback. Then void form enters the mix and I almost want to delete.
I cleared twisting corridors when SL was still new in my SP when my prot pally was struggling. I couldn’t meet the DPS check and gear levels were still anemic.
The SP in a lower gear level just melted faces, ESPECIALLY when I cheesed it till I got dictionary and swapped through all 3 specs casting all the word spells in the entrance.

Even with Shadowmend it’s pretty dismal. I quest in holy spec because holy’s damage is far better than shadow’s healing.
