Shadow priest

kinda sucks that blizz made shadow priest playable (pvp - pve wise) ONly If you’re Venthyr.

You don’t know what you’re talking about… Venthyr is the worst covenant for Shadow PvE.

Though it is correct that if you want to PvP seriously at all on Shadow, Mindgames is practically required.

Yeah I wish venthyr was best for both PvP and pve, now I need to make a second priest since I’ve had to swap my main over to nightfae as the dps is so much higher for shadow. It’s ridiculous.

I’ve been thinking of biting the bullet and rerolling NF for a while… is it that significant?

It’s about 200-250 DPS at max accounting for the fact you also probably swap legendary. Other specs have it a lot worse.

This looks like a whole lot more than 200-250 dps. Is this Warcraft logs table not accurate? Average damage in mythic CN.

There are way more factors going into something like this than just what’s theoretically possible. Namely that the vast majority of performance oriented players gravitate towards the optimal covenant, as well different kill times that benefit parsing as a whole being more beneficial for given covenants etc. When things were less saturated covenants were much closer, because there were still top performing players running necro, venthyr, and kyrian.

I’d say what a normal person can expect to lose playing averagely as Fae to averagely as Venthyr is 200-250. With perfect optimisation I might raise that to 350 depending on the kill time for the encounter, but that’s more like top 200 CE guild farm logs.

For the vast vast majority people it’s just not going to make or break you.

Edit: For m+, especially large pull coordinated runs, it’s a much bigger difference. But that’s more down to korayn than anything else.

Thank you for the insight, it is much appreciated :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

you are not understanding my point , see i can pve and Pvp as Kyrian Monk, But i cant pvP with a night fae Spriest.

You worded it terribly, what you’ve written implies you can’t PvP OR PvE without being venthyr.

I still pvp as mainly necro. I do alright. Not high end but good nuff

I’m Necrolord at the moment but I’m swapping to venthyr. I’m biting the bullet on a sub optimal pve covenant because I’m mostly interested in pvp. It’s a shame that’s the system we have to work around, but that’s what Blizz gave us, so here’s hoping to an easier way to swap around in 9.2.

Come 9.1 it is going to be a lot harder to pvp as anything but venthyr. The nerfs to DP and dissonant echoes conduit are huge and will affect NF/necro/kyrian much more than venthyr because those covenants don’t have mind games to burst with.

not really no. Venth will always be the prime go to. But necrolord actually has an incredibly powerful minor trait thats borderline absurd if u fight pet classes or ur do rbgs. Gives a near perma 50% damage boost. Necrolord if anything for bgs will decimate everyone else in raw damage.
