Okay, but Mind Soothe was basically very rarely ever used prior to this season. Mass Dispel was only used for a few things in Mythic+, mainly Bursting affix. Power Infusion has always been a tad problematic to the point where quite a few Shadow Priests don’t even want the ability, at least the ability to cast on others.
Yes, thank you, intelligent non-priest low-level alt who clearly knows what he is talking about and didn’t just start paying attention to priests during this season. Priests truly have it all. As we all know, Mass Dispel and Mind Soothe were substantial reasons why Priests were S-tier all throughout Legion, BFA, and Shadowlands. We truly have been living in Dragonflight Season 2 nonstop for the past six years. It’s not like this season’s disinctive dungeon design had anything to do with making Mass Dispel and Mind Soothe useful - no, not at all. The truth is that priests just have it all.
Because priests have it all, we also have access to burst mobility and immunities, as well as mandatory M+ utility like battle rez.
Priests truly have it all. How did we not see it before?
No no no
We do not use that kind of logic and critical thinking around here. You need to complain about MD PI and Mind Soothe like everyone else
I never thought about it before, but priest having everything must be why priest has only been meta two seasons in the entirety of M+ history.
I mean there’s 3 reasons for that though:
- Dungeon design allowed for it
- It’s way more usable while on the move and without slowing the group down as an AoE
- People wised up to how powerful Soothe actually is. They experimented WAY MORE with it this xpac than previous, where people mostly tried to use it to skip packs you could already skip in other ways anyway. This season saw the shenanigans that was the dragons skip in HoI. I think people now know that Mind soothe can let you get so close it feels like cheating.
You can get rid of 1 (kinda - keep in mind, some of these dungeon designs are old, people are just finding new skips now that they’re better) but 2 and 3 are hard to take back.
Without true sight mobs being immune to mind soothe as a change, I seriously doubt that we would have seen Mind Soothe go away as part of the meta for a while.
If they werent a factor prior to s2 DF then their removal wouldnt be much of a loss.
Mind Soothe had a lot of uses this season. That and Mass Dispel is the reason why Priests were mandatory.
NL: Used to skip trash packs before the 2nd boss and before the last boss.
Freehold: Used to skip trash packs depending on the route.
Uldaman: Used to skip trash packs before the final boss.
BH: Used to solo open cages. Used to skip trash before the final boss. Used to be able to skip Stinkbreath with it.
HoI: Used to use it to skip the entire hallway before the 3rd boss. You can still skip some trash in the hallway still with it.
Underrot: Depending on the route you could use it to skip trash near the end of the dungeon.
I mean its fine to “not know” something.
Have absolutely zero idea what youre talking about. Not playing such class etc etc…thats fine
But posting such blantant bull
…i mean, you cannot be serious with this double digit iq suggestion.
Yes, that is how we do things. If abilities are meta we should remove them because they are too strong, and if they are not meta we remove them because “their removal wouldn’t be much of a loss.”
Leaving the class, of course, with zero abilities.
Guess you don’t raid or pvp?
"Don’t remove the source of why we’ll never get meaningful buffs. Balance the spec around utility that is sometimes broken and sometimes worthless.
Theres no way new shadow utility could be created that isnt on both ends of extreme op/ worthless."
Priests have asked for utility in line with other classes for years and Blizzard has refused at every step, even going so far as to say that priests can’t have abilities like x/y/z because other classes have x/y/z, even going so far as removing abilities priests had to give them to other classes.
Priest players aren’t reacting to you because we’re so in love with the utility we have - they’re reacting to you because they know they’re not getting anything to make them relevant when it’s gone because Blizzard has explicitly said priest isn’t getting anything that other classes have, even something as basic as a kick, while Blizzard gives things like Mass Barrier out like they’re free candy despite heavily encroaching on the priest fantasy and toolset.
Blizzard has changed their stance many times before.
They have, but they haven’t done it with priest so far. Priests asked for general utility for years getting nothing but silence the whole time, and when a response was finally given in DF beta it was “no, stop asking, and you’re not getting the abilities we took away back because we gave them to mage and evoker.”
Bumping because it needs to be heard
Says the Pally…
can we at least give SP justice for one expansion… like the new one coming up next year. Plzzzzz. thankzzz
by justice i mean, a good rework.
This isn’t about this per se, your intro (I didn’t make it through the last 3 expansions patch notes) about good for M+ but bad for raid cause AoE is ST so nerf the other etc etc etc (all classes go through this), but it got me thinking.
I beginning to think the designers just F certain specs so they stay reroll and keep paying to play.
I used to think it’s impossible to balance a game like this, and, while it is impossible to balance like compared to a game where all characters have same abilities and same armor, I think they could come damn close to balancing all class/specs with small timely tweaks in certain areas.
They just want certain class/specs to be on top for a while and create a revolving door of “alts”. And yes, some are die hards that will play a class/spec regardless, but they know lots also pay to reroll.
I wish they would actually tweak appropriately to “balance” all. People will still pay to play if their class is enjoyable.
Still waiting for a proper spec design for Shadow.
Ever since blizzard had a knee jerk reaction to forum screeching and removed voidform without a new plan in place for shadow, we’ve been struggling to find an identity. The spec has felt really patchwork and fractured.
Hopefully next expansion they’ll sit down and make a new shadow design from the ground up. Forget all the nostalgia and “hey remember this??” Abilities. Just make a good spec with a good design and nice flow to the rotation.
100 percent yes. been saying this for so long now.
like how many reworks has Shadow gotten in DR. they just need to give it proper attention. its really unfair.
This spec has a bad history with the old devs. the new devs need to give it the justice it deserves.
