hello! im just wondering how good is haste/crit on shadow? the reason i ask this is because i plan on swapping to holy and shadow a lot during keys 15s if that helps any. I understand shadow should be going for haste/mastery and holy is haste/crit i’ve read icyveins and they said ilvl over anything for holy but for shadow crit isn’t to far behind just making sure if its going to ruin my dps drastically if i do plan on going haste/crit. as well as which covenant would be good for this change im necrolord currently but not sure how good that is for holy priest. Again this is strictly for mythic plus. thank you for any advice!
It’s not that crit is terrible, it just doesn’t interact with our basic toolkit like mastery does. Because of shadow weaving, we gain a lot of benefit from mastery, especially in ST when you often have all yours DoTs rolling. We also usually run ruby, which tends to give us all the crit we need when we need it. Holy plays kyrian, but if you’re running shadow go necro; if you take marileth as your soulbind, you can make up for a bit of lost mastery by just using fleshcraft on cd since you get the mastery buff from it. If you get your hands on a changeling, you can also have it proc mastery (though I’m not sure it’s better than haste, be sure to sim that).
In short though, for +15s it shouldn’t be that impactful, honestly. You’ll feel it a bit in ST, but you’ll probably be just fine.
You dont have to worry about it at all if your only doing 15 to 18 or below keys, i only geared this guy now coming from my main on EU and really the difference isn’t that big as long as you’re at or around 30% haste and know what you’re doing, crit is fine.
Haste/Crit is fine for M+. We don’t DOT up enough to get full use of our mastery in M+, we’re mainly spamming Searing Nightmare.
