Shadow priest leveling

Coming back to wow after taking a couple months off and i was wknderjng what is the current state of shadow priests? Are they good while leveling or just in end game content?

Shadow in general is pretty lacking compared to other dps classes, but it beats leveling as holy… so there is that.

I’d level Disc as a Priest.

Shadow is great while leveling. You will have to properly rotate offensive and defensive cd’s if you’re super aggressive and leveling solo. It’s much slower to level in the healing specs.

I’m lvling a spriest also in bgs and dungeons. What talents are a must and what stats should be priority in pvp?

Party up with a dps or two and quest together. faster, make friends profit.

I’d level in disc spec which I"m doing with my 111 priest. I have several friends who are holding a toon and we only log on together / level together and play other alts beyond that.

If I were solo questing I would suggest run incursions for the 10% xp buff, run some IE’s when ya can and quest in Disc since you can handle the mob density / huge pulls and not die.

Shadow can work, ya just have to pay more attention. I like to put on some music and semi chill out if i’m questin leveling since they nerfed leveling speed to dirt.

Also you can get a 10% XP token for legion commendations if ya have a toon that can buy / mail the BOA’s to you.

Shadow is great for leveling (at low levels) now. It used to be that disc was king at low levels because penance was so strong, but that’s no longer the case.

Edit: You must mean only levels 110-120, which are much different, sorry!

Disc is pretty good for leveling.

With WM on, I would say greater fade (for casting), the instant void eruption thing and mind trauma for the haste stacking

Not sure why this was never mentioned or maybe i missed it somewhere but you’re not taking the best leveling talent.

Dark void.

You can literally shield yourself cast VT on 8 mobs, they all run over, refresh shield pop Dark Void and they all get sw:p put on them, just after you cast Dark Void use Shadow Crash on them all, pop void. With pvp talent voidform is intant and when you pop it they will pretty much all be dead, just use Mind Sear and they will all die pretty easily. Refresh shield as needed or pop greater fade.

Dark Void literally makes Spriest leveling a joke.

It scales well with gear and high level play. If you play it well it is very powerful, if you are new to it you will struggle until you get gear and/or practice. In the end game it is currently very high damage in raid in M+, but it has a skill requirement that needs to be met or it will preform poorly.

I’ve been leveling with:

SW: Void
Whatever (I take the speed boost because i’m impatient)
Misery
Mind Bomb
Shadow Word: Death
Void Torrent
Legacy of the Void.

People give void torrent a lot of flack, but it’s a lot of damage on a short cooldown. Usually ready every other mob when i’m questing. Melts things pretty nice.

Iv’e been leveling as disc with full heirlooms and it’s been insanely smoothe.

Usually dungeons are boring with how easy they are but with time-walking it’s been fun and challenging. Actually it’s harder to heal TW dungeons then healing 12’s on my druid.

Actually now I think about it I hope that doesnt mean what I think it means when I get this priest M+ ready.

I’m leveling a Spriest as well and personally, once you get the rotation right, it feels a little OP especially in BG’s. I’m only 87, though, so I can’t speak for 120, but traditionally, Spriests have always been squishy.

People saying shadow isn’t good for leveling never leveled shadow properly. It’s a powerhouse while leveling, even at low levels, and especially once you get the Legacy of the Void talent. I usually only switch to disc for elite mobs.
