You can dot up the whole group of mobs with your vile taint, which has a short cooldown so you don’t have to manually dot before it comes back up. Your single target rotation does damage to the whole group. You have utility that isn’t provided by a profession. Your dispels aren’t on two separate pets.
Also there are like 100 shadow priests doing high keys for every 1 warlock, and that warlock has to play the spec that spams rof every global and hopes the mobs stay inside it.

I do sort of get “being bored of 1-dimensional stuff,” in BFA I rerolled to BM so I could pay better attention to raid leading and ended up not really liking my character. It also feels good to have a kit that’s well suited to the problems my character has to solve though.
Affliction needs love but I found shadow priest super boring and warlock has two other solid dps specs to choose from.
Shadow priest basically has 1 talent pathway after the rework that just magically works for both single target and multi target. Yawn.
I would kill for Affliction to have a build that was good in both ST and AOE.
All the talent tree did for us was hard divide our ST and AOE capabilities.
Do you know how depressing it is for you to be caught in your ST build while you’re clearing trash? Not even a baseline Seed of Corruption to throw out.
Oh I totally agree with you on that. As an OG affliction player, affliction tree needs to be looked at and I hope they do soon. The shadow priest rework just felt lazy. Your single target and multi target are the exact same rotation.
The state of Shadow Priest shows that Blizzard doesn’t care about M+ balance almost as much as BFA triple Outlaw Rogue keys. It hard counters almost every affix (incorp, afflicted, bursting, entangling), brings very high damage AND Power Infusion to give someone else very high damage.
M+ balance has always been bad though, are you new lol. I’m less bothered about Spriest being the best rn because they’ve been mid to garbage since M+ was introduced.
I mean for affi the only diffrence is a seed for aoe lol
