Before the change it wasn’t really a caster and now after the change is a “true” caster a real caster class.
Define “true” caster.

In my definition is that every spell needs to be cast able to be a true caster.
And now it is such as vampiric touch now applies shadow word pain.
Mind flay is now replaced with mind spike and now mind spike is a cast spell.
Void torrent is casting
The other two spells are also cast able and halo.
Shadow crash is insrant
Void Form is instant
Void bolt is instant
PW: Death is instant
Devouring Plague is instant
Edit: maybe VF isn’t. Only played my Spriest for like 2 hours in DF

Well, my basic idea is that a class must have a number of spells that is cast able to be considered a real caster.

Yes that’s it.
I hate mindspike — and as of such, spec my talents in a way to use mindflay over mindspike. 
The rest I don’t mind so much.

After the rework is a caster not before. Before was all about managing your dots and stuff and it really wasn’t a caster until the rework kicked in.
And what does any of that have to do with me liking or not liking casters?
And all casters have cast timers. And all casters have insrant abilities.
So by your definition: they’re all casters or none of them are casters?
To my eyes cast able spells have to outnumber that of instant spells to be a real caster.
What about channeled spells?
Im of thr same mindset. Althouhh ive gotten use to mind spike, i truly prefer the channel over the spam cast
Casting isn’t the same as channeling or is it the same but if your talking about backward channeling then no.
So in your mind channeled spells are in the same group as instant spells?
